Pantone Colors for Summer 2009!

Pantone has the spring colors all ready for everyone.  You can use the link to get a 29 page pdf report.  But if you think that is a bit of overkill, I’ll give you a quick (at least shorter) overview.  Now, no guarantees that your monitor will show fuchsia pink like mine, or that either will be right.  But you will get the general idea.   Yes, I wasn’t kidding.  Fuchsia Red is the first color; what most of us would call hot pink!  Then comes Salmon Rose, a pretty pink shade.  My 3 year old niece’s favorite color is blue, so she’d love the Palace Blue shade that came third.  It’s a lovely shade, reminds of summer beach colors.  The fourth is Lucite Green (and WHERE DO they get these names).  This, at least on my computer, looks more like a pale green, with an undertone of blue.  If you like the brights, you’ll love the Super Lemon.  Next was Dark Citron, a shade of green, reminds me of a light shade of green camouflage.  For the amethyst-lovers, next is Lavender.  True to form, it’s a medium shade of purple.  Then comes Vibrant Green (now, growing up on a farm, I think of that as the color of summer fields, this shade isn’t THAT Vibrant).  This is a nice soft green, relaxing, muted.  The last 2 colors are Slate Gray and Rose Dust.  Rose Dust is a pale pink, but with a strong hint of beige.  The Slate Gray isn’t as dark as you might think, it’s a blue-gray tone.

How to Update Your Look for This Summer

NOW WHAT?  You see these new colors, but who among us is going to buy a new wardrobe!

Don't worry, you don't have to really replace or buy many things at all to be fashionable and trendy this summer.  Follow a few simple steps to update your color scheme for the upcoming months.  A previous hubpage talks about how you can re-arrange your closet and almost immediately see different combinations.  Check that out:   Updating Your Wardrobe on a Budget .

Besides finding items you can mix and match, use less expensive accessories to update your entire look on pennies!

  1. Add jewelry in compatible colors, or those that have 1 of these shades combined with the color of your outfit.
  2. Buy a few cheap belts and immediately have a different look!
  3. Use easy brooch pins to pick up a flash of fuchsia or lemon yellow.
  4. Don't forget, hair accessories count too!  Barettes, and hair sticks are quick ways to add color and panache.
  5. Bracelets often have several shades in 1 piece and a couple of these can go a long way to bringing in these new colors with your existing wardrobe.  Make is flashy and no one will notice you had those same khaki's last summer!
  6. Add a few summer tops, and maybe 1 summer jacket in that Lemon Yellow (I think that would go with so many summer colors!).

I hope you found this helpful in thinking of ways to add in cost saving pieces to your wardrobe and accessories!  We all want to look great without blowing our budgets, so look for ways to add a little sparkle for a lot less money!

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
