The beginning of sixty style began around 1965. Most women were still very conservative, wearing gloves, petticoats, and girdles. Therefore the 60's with its new swing took a little getting use too.

Most people believe that Grease accurate shows the way kids dressed by this. Wrong! Some kids dressed like the Grease actors, but most were still very conservative.

Designed by Montgomery Ward's (1961). This classic Brentshire shirtwaist, was the popular style no women could go without. The dresses were available in silk, polyester and cotton. The cost ranged from $17.98 - $9.98

Jacqueline Kennedy at age 33 began setting the trend. On November 22nd 1963 weather casters reported hot weather, but the pink channel suit (make of wool) looked too cool on Jackie. The hat that she's wearing is called, pillbox.

Jackie was famous for wearing suits or dresses with the classic three-quarter sleeves, or lace mantillas, with the pillbox hat. The hat was created by Halston, and when Jackie began wearing his hat - he became famous.
