In this article I'll share some of the more common acne treatments that usually work.
First and foremost, there are a number of things you can do right out of the gate that don't involve any kind of acne products, but do involve you being aware of your actions and habits, and possibly altering them a little. You see, sometimes the road to clearing up acne starts with the little things you can do to prevent acne breakouts in the first place.
Top 5 Acne Control Tips
Cleanliness
Most people think that staying clean means simply showering every day. Although this is obviously important, when you're fighting a battle with pimples, you have to go the extra mile. First of all, keep your hair clean and off of your face and neck. If this means wearing a hairband, so be it. Leave wearing your hair down to the times when you really want to look your best, like a big date or family reunion. Otherwise, keep it off of your skin. If you touch anything dirty or greasy, like pizza or a car engine, make sure you wash your hands before you accidently touch your face. Transferring dirt and oils to your skin from things you've come in contact with is probably one of the most common ways to cause acne. Make sure you are always wearing clean clothes. Do not get up in the morning, and because you are lazy and are only planning to sit around the house playing Halo, go and put on yesterdays t-shirt or pants. These dirty clothes are just that, dirty. They will transfer all kinds of dead skin cells and body oils onto your skin that can lead to pimples and zits. Even if you only have facial acne, rubbing your hands on your dirty clothes and then touching your face can cause acne.

Skin Irritation
Acne skin care is not always about using acne products. Wearing tight restrictive clothing, although perhaps sexy and attractive to the opposite sex, is not a good thing when it comes to getting rid of your acne. Tight clothing rubs against your skin, aggravating any bad patches of skin you may have that is waiting to have an acne flareup. You are better to wear loose, breathable clothing. There are even materials that help draw the moisture away from your skin that helps avoid acne. If you sweat, shower as soon as you can and dry well. Sweat helps keep our bodies from overheating, but is not your friend when you're trying to cure acne. Sweat clogs up your pores and makes it harder for them to shed dead skin cells and natural oils. When you do wash, do not use an abrassive washcloth, pick something soft or even just use your hands. Rough facecloths and scrubbers can also irritate your skin and lead to more acne.
Using an Acne Cleanser
Never use regular soap when you're washing your face or body. Always use some kind of acne body wash. These products are specifically designed to make sure that they don't clog up your pores with all kinds of perfumes that normal body soaps have. Then, after washing, make sure you use some kind of cleanser specifically for getting rid of acne. These cleansers are usually formulated for different skin types, so make sure you get the right kind. Apply the cleanser with a soft cloth or cotton pad. Most of these cleansers are fortified with benzoyl peroxide, so they get right into the pores and help wipe out the bacteria that causes acne. Make sure you clean every area that may be infected, and don't forget about your forehead, your neck, and behind your ears.
Diet and Exercise
Most doctors will agree that the link between diet, exercise and acne is tenuous at best. Some studies show that diet has an effect on acne, others don't. From personal experience and experience from others, eating lots of greasy, fatty foods and foods high in sugar (especially soda) has a much higher chance of leading to a breakout. Try and mix in more fruits and vegetables into your diet. Another benefit of making healthy eating choices is that you will rarely get constipated. Constipation can lead to more pimples because your body tries to release some of the toxins through the skin, since it's regular method is not working. Also, drinking lots of water helps flush the body of toxins and in general keeps your skin healthier.
Do Not Stress
Stress and anxiety is shown to increase acne problems. I know it's hard to not freak out over your acne when you have a date in 3 days or you're going to be the maid of honor in your best friends wedding, but it is important to minimize stress as much as you can. If you are following a strong acne treatment regimen that involves the right acne products for your skin, you are doing all that you can to control your acne. Stressing about it will just make things worse, or at least undo some of the good you are doing with the other things.
So that's it, my best acne tips that will hopefully help you get rid of your acne problems for good. Like I said, if you're looking for that magical pill, that miracle cure, a fast acne treatment, unfortunately this is not it. But I can guarantee that if you follow these acne tips, you will be well on your way to at least controlling your pimples and keeping good care of skin.
