Fast Forward: Season 1 episode 1
Anyone recently catch the new show on ABC called Fast Forward? I recently saw their first episode and it reminded me of another ABC show called Lost. If you don't know what I am talking about here is a basic overview of what Lost is about in my opinion.
Lost is based on an island that is constantly moving through time. There was a plane crash which was caused by a magnetic field and that is how the cast of the show crash landed on to the island. There are many twists and turns. I would highly recommend this show to anyone who likes mystery, drama. This show has been running on ABC for over 5 years now. I know my overview did not tell you much and there is a good reason for that. I suck at explaining things! and I also want you to actually watch the show and come up with your conclusions.
So the reason I believe Fast Forward is somehow linked to Lost is because in both shows the cast is unsure of what is happening. I.e. in Lost cast is never rescued and abnormal things start to occur on the island and people are generally confused and therefore lost. The premise of Fast Forward is that on a normal day the entire world has a "blacked out". By black out I mean every human shuts down in mid day and falls to the ground. This causes a lot of destruction and there is a lot of death.
In the black out period people have a vivid dream of themselves in the future. To be more specific its a certain date in the future. Its 6 months in the future, April 29th for people in the United States and a day ahead for people in Europe.
The lead character so far has been Mark played by Joseph Fiennes an FBI agent who while in pursuit of a terrorist group in Los Angeles goes through the same black out and sees his future as an FBI agent trying to solve the issue at hand. His FBI partner is played by John Cho who has a different future than anyone else on the show. He does not see a future and comes to the conclusion that in that time frame he will be dead, therefore he was not able to see his future.
Mark's wife is played by Sonya Walger [a former Lost actress] plays a doctor and goes through the black out while performing surgery and sees a future she did not expect in such a short time. She is sees that she is now with a different man and now finds it hard to believe that she would walk out of her marriage or cheat on her husband.
Before the show ends on a climax, John Cho's character is talking to his fiancee and wants to discuss their dreams or Flash Forward but is interrupted by another FBI agent who is hard at work. This FBI agent is reviewing camera footage of the time the black out occurred and in one video notices a man walking in what looks like a stadium of some sort while everyone else has blacked out.
Oh and another ironic similarity between Lost and Flash Forward is that in Lost the plane that crashed is an Oceanic airline and in Flash Forward at about 6 minutes into the show there is a billboard shown while Mark is driving that shows the word Oceanic and an airplane. Coincident? I think not. I shall wait and see what happens next on tonight's episode. I will try to review the episode with my thoughts as soon as possible. Remember, there are still more futures to be revealed!
