Now I am not a huge guy exactly, but I have had some experience with fast weight loss.  One of the reasons for this is because we had a biggest loser contest at work one time, and I entered just for the challenge involved.  I wanted to learn more about the actual mechanics of losing weight.  This challenge intrigued me because I have seen so many people struggle with it.  So I entered the weight loss competition as an opportunity for learning.  Here is what I learned.


The key to fast weight loss

The whole key to weight loss is a 2 part equation.  The first part is the "calories in" part, and the second part is the "calories out" (or the calories burned) part.  So really you have to look at two things here: what you are eating, and how much you are exercising.  That's it.  Nothing more is required to figure out the big secret to weight loss.

Now I know this to be true because what I did in this biggest loser contest (I won hands down by the way, picking up an extra 150 bucks by doing so) is that I simply took these 2 approaches to weight loss and I carried them out to the extreme.  Now people might read this and decide that what I did is too extreme for them to do, but the fact is that you can replicate my success by simply pushing yourself to the edges in these two areas.  I will show you how to do both very easily, but first let me explain exactly what I did.

My fast weight loss diet

What I did first of all was to do a 5 day juice fast.  This sounds really extreme to people and most of them will say "oh, I could never do that.  I have to eat."  This is not just an excuse, but people honestly believe that they cannot do a 5 day fast.  They think it to be impossible.  They think they would die.  And, they think they would be extremely hungry the whole time. 

All of this is false.  Anyone can do a juice fast.  Anyone. 

Anyone who does a juice fast and does not cheat (by eating any solid food whatsoever) will quickly move past their hunger by the second day and the rest will be a piece of cake (bad choice of words there!). 

Folks, you have to get past your mental block against this fasting stuff.  It is healthy, easy to do, and produces extremely good results.  You will drop weight fast if you do this.  And you will have a ton of energy, much more so than on your non-fasting days.  Get past the mental block and just try it out.  Your results will sell the process to you with no problem.

The ideal juice fast consists of buying an expensive juicer and getting tons of organic, fresh fruits and veggies every day and turning it all into juice.  I personally cannot afford that so I just buy about 3 bags of lemons and a bunch of juice off the shelf (such as V8 Fusion).  Then I squeeze a lemon and strain the pulp out of it and add it to a glass of V8.  Do this for 5 days without eating any solid food.  Make sure to strain the pulp because if you eat any pulp you will become ravenously hungry as that is solid food.  The idea is that your stomach will turn itself off completely by the second day and when that happens you will not feel any hunger.  Period.  At all.  No hunger.  I promise. 

So that is the fast weight loss diet and that is the first half of the secret.  If you do that you will drop weight like crazy.  After the fast you can slowly return to eating with fruits and veggies and hopefully take on a healthier diet so that you will maintain your weight loss.  If you go back to junk food then the weight will just come right back.  But if you do a few fasts over time it will train you to appreciate healthier foods.  After a fast you will savor a simple piece of fruit. 

The second half of the secret is the "calories burned" part.  Before, during, and after the fast, you need to put some exercise into your day, every single day, that burns up extra calories.  I would suggest that you start with simply walking.  Walk out of your home and look at your watch.  Walk away from your home for 30 minutes.  Turn around at the 30 minute mark and walk back home.  That is one hour of extra calories burned.  If you do this every single day and incorporate a juice fast you will be extremely excited about your results.  You will drop weight quickly.  Not only that, but this is extremely healthy.  Yes, the fasting is healthy too.  Doctors might disagree (at least America one) because they have not really been taught to fast.  There is no money in it.  But it is an awesome way of life and a natural thing to do.  Animals fast when they are sick, for example.  It is healthy and natural and if you do it you will feel awesome.  Give it a try and get out there and move your body, every single day. 

So simple, yet who will do it?  I tried it and it felt awesome so I continue to exercise every day and I do another fast every other month or so.  It is an awesome way to live and I actually appreciate the food I eat now.

Hello Recovery Guy - love the nickname :)

You don't need to be a "huge guy" to try fasting to lose weight. In fact, fasting can actually do so much more than just helping you beat the scales.

When you have some time, visit my blog, and you will understand what I mean. Detoxification is vital for cleansing your body, and regular fasting achivies just that ;-)
