Argument for Faucet Filters

Did you know that when you go into a store and pay $1 - $4 for a gallon of bottled water, or go into a convenience store and pay $1.49 for a 16oz bottle that you are only paying for perception?  Did you know that bottled water companies are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to maintain that perception that bottled water comes from some untouched natural mountain spring or some pristine underground aquifer.

Did you know that over 60 million plastic water bottles are disposed of in U.S. landfills every single day? That equated to over 20 billion wasted water bottles every year.  Did you know it takes roughly 15 billion barrels of oil each year to produce those plastic bottles and 3 times as much water as it does to fill them?  Can you imagine the impact of this pollution just in the United States from producing, transporting, consuming, and disposing of a product that is no better than regular tap water?

Did you know that bottled water companies are not held up to the same standards as water coming from a city tap?  That’s right, city tap water is required by law to have no confirmed E. Coli or fecal coliform bacteria present where bottled water has no such restraints.  City tap water also has to be filtered and disinfected where bottled water has no such restraints. City tap water has to meet certain standards for allowing trace toxins or cancer causing chemicals.  Bottled water has no such restraints.

Bottled Water vs Tap Water

Buy Water Faucet Filters

City tap water is far from perfect but bottled water is not any safer than tap water.  There is a better way to consume water without the costly impact on the environment or the impact on the pocket book. Water Faucet Filters are a great solution to this impact.

Water faucet filters are economical.  The faucet filters start out at around $19 and can range to about $60.  Replacement filter cartridges run about $12 and last for over 200 gallons of water.  Can you see the savings from buying bottled water every day?  Most daily bottled water consumers can recover the costs of the water filtration system in just under a month.

Faucet filters are easy to use and to install.  Most faucet filter systems can easily attach to a kitchen faucet without the use of tools, just twist it on and it’s ready.  Also they have a diverter valve right on the faucet filter to switch from filtered to unfiltered water to help extend the life of the filter cartridge.

Faucet filters do what they are intended to do.  They reduce the amounts of lead that come through the tap by as much as 99%.  They reduce the amounts of cryptosporidium and giardia cysts, diarrhea causing bacteria, by more than 99.95%. They also reduce chlorine, bad taste and odor that is sometimes associated with city tap water.

If you’re ready to make the switch and reduce the impact on the environment and also on your pocket book, then check out some of the listings I have on this page.

These small water filters are great and definitely cheaper than bottled water. One thing, make sure you don't buy a water filter that is going to be discontinued. I got a great deal on one but didn't think to ask about the actual filters. Now I can only buy them online and in bulk.

You are so right about the contents of bottled water: you can never be absolutely sure, can you?

Most bottled water comes from a city tap somewhere so all you are purchasing is a fancy lable and some plastic.
