The Hubber's Recipes Are Making Me Crazy
The holidays are coming fast and it is a time for baking and cooking and eating and drinking, right? That is what the HUMANS do as an important part of their holiday celebrations. They get in the kitchen and make mouth watering food.
I LOVE FOOD.
I do not have a way to cook or bake as I live in a tree. I am an animal and I get most of my meals by scrounging around on the forest floor. I do like to nibble fresh sprouts and leaves in the trees tops but those are mostly available in springtime.
I have been reading many hubpages and I have found some wonderful articles written. The ones about FOOD are my favorites. I love food and being that I live in close proximity to a suburb, I often make my way down the trunk of my tree and over to the local neighborhood. I sneak in the night, staying close to the ground to avoid any Humans, Dogs or Cats that might be frightened by their own ignorance and decide I am the ENEMY.
My Christmas Wish List And My Justifications For All Entries
- Chocolate, Maddie wrote a hubpage about her wonderful low fat brownies. Please send me these Dear Santa. Here is a link so you can make sure to get the recipe right...........You can double the chocolate if you like, it won't hurt my feelings. It is the Christmas Holidays and CHOCOLATE is my favorite.
- Cookies,Chuck wrote this recipe and shared it on this hubpage. His are quick and easy. Should make it less of a hassle for anyone out there who gives a rats rear........I am a rodent you know? I wish for cookies too.
- Bark, Here is one I had to laugh at when I first read it. I mean come on. I am a bark eater by nature and in the dead of winter this not so tasty but nutritional food supplement for us rodents can get you through a hard winter. But this bark is something to dream about. Athlyn Green's Christmas Bark has my mouth watering. It sounds so easy, a no bake treat. It would have to be considered the perfect present for any one in my clan.
- Sweet Potato Pie and or Pecan Pie, food is so wonderful and it is the holiday season. mgwhite has doubled up and put two recipes in one hub. Now that is the cats meow. I would be happy with either but both would be a wish come true.
- DRESSING, Now this is always a holiday favorite and one I have sampled a plenty. Seems the Humans always get carried away when they make up this tasty concoction. I have tasted dressings from almost every household in the neighborhood and have grown fond of these fantastic fixins. Jerilee Wei has shared her knowledge on the subject with a hub chocked full of this food of fondness. Makes my lips quiver and my quills shiver just wishing for this dish.
- Cranberry Nut Bread, No I am not being greedy. I figure Santa has a lot on his plate (pun intended). There might be some decision making he will have to do since the economy is feeling tight. My idea here is to make sure I allow for plenty of options and then if Santa has a good night at the casino he might be up to splurging on me! What the hey. I LOVE FOOD, I already told you that. Now just incase you forgot where I was. There is a nutbread recipe I found on this hubpage that has a lot of good information about the health benefits of cranberries. Blessedmommy wrote this one last year, so it is a vintage recipe or maybe a vintage hub. Either or, I liked the way that cranberry nut bread recipe made my eye tear up.
Always Looking For A Handout
I know there are a zillion more great hubs out there. All this talk about food and all this pounding the keyboard and I have worked up an appetite. It is past time to shuffle out of the tree and go search for food before the days light. I heard they had a Christmas Party over near the lake house Saturday Night. I am headed that way with high hopes. Just maybe, one of my wishes will come true tonight.

No noNO! it is mine all mine....Well okay, How bout we share it? Thanks for visiting, HA!
mmmm...cranberry nut bread...
Yes Yes, cranberry nut bread, so good so good for me, poorQpine. Glad you stopped to visit Ardie, Thanks.
Ha, you are really special. Great Hub.
Glad to have you here on HubPages.
A lots of love....
I don't cook, so maybe I can come hang out in the tree with you? All of these foods sound yummy! If this is the fare down at the lake house then I could help you get some, seeing as how I'm taller and human. I can reach the top of the tables and blend in with the other humans.
Question: Do you run an extension cord up to your nest to run the computer?
Tatjana....I am a mere animal, the special one is you who sees beyond the eye! Thanks for the sweet comment.
Shirley....The lake house party was this past weekend. Trash goes out on Wed. so that makes for several days of DD= dumpster diving. You would be most helpful just to lift the lids on the trash bins. They try to keep us out but WE HAVE OUR WAYS.
As For My Computer...I am a very sneaky one. You see I do not have a computer and I can not pay bills.
Ah BUT I can climb.
I know this Human who likes to leave the office window cracked. I sneak in the window and quietly go to work late at night, and occasionally during the day when I have very important business to attend to. It is FREE and I enjoy the risk taking, makes life so much more exciting don't you know?
Like having sex with your brothers wife. Oh wait, that is not what I meant to say. I am sleepy now, Good morning to you.
Thanks for allerting me to these lovely recipes. You are such a kind creature to support your fellow hubbers by writing hubs about their recipes. Such a community builder you are :).
WOW!! Great recipes. Do you care for Indian tea and biscuits?
Now Miss Sweetie,
I feel that helping each other is what makes a strong community and you know that I LOVE Food! I am hoping that Mr. St. Nick will be thoughtful of me poorQpine and see what a good rodent I have been this year, drop me off some sugar plums or something tasty for a mouth watering treat. Thank you for noting my generosity. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment. Best Wishes to you this Holiday Season.
countrywomen,
I have never had the pleasure of Indian tea, but biscuits are fine. I especially like biscuits with lots of butter and honey and the warm ones are fantastic but I only ate a warm biscuit one time.....
It was back in the spring one morning just before dawn. I was slowly making my way back to my tree when out of the darkness came a flying biscuit followed by words that I would dare not print for fear of being expelled from HubPages. It had just one bite out of it, but that is never a problem for us rodents. The biscuit was warm and buttery and filled with honey dripping down the sides. OH MY LAND. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I devoured the whole thing right on the spot. That is how I learned that the local fella there in the house I was slipping past was messing around on his wife.
Seems she had waited up for him, made breakfast and sat on the back patio to eat. He came sneaking in just as I was passing through and low and behold when she saw him trying to wipe the lipstick off his cheek in the rear-view mirror of his car, well the poor dear went nuts and heaved the very biscuit she was just biting into at him. That biscuit beaned him on the head and bounced straight up in the air hit the top of the carport and rolled right down the back side landing just beneath my hairy short legs. Warm biscuits are to die for.
countrywomen, tell me about your Indian tea and biscuits please. I like to dream of food, telling me will make me dream about them. Thanks for visiting and commenting here. Happy Day to you too.

I am glad to see your popularity is growing poorQpine! You are a kind animal that deserves the tribute!
PoorQpine, please stop referring to yourself as a rodent. I'm a girl, ergo rodent = rat. Ick!
You are an excellent story-teller, very compelling. I could taste that warm buttery biscuit with the sweet, amber honey running down the sides. Now, I'm hungry.
Two questions that are none of my business:
1) How important can poorQpine business be??
2) Why don't you shave your legs?
shinujohn2008....
I wrote that hub you asked for. Hope you will enjoy it.
SweetiePie....
You are enjoying the tributes these days and that is a warm feeling, right? Where is my eatable reward? Love my food and your food too! You do have some food ? Would you share? with me, poorQpine?
Shirley Anderson,
I am a rodent and proud to be one my dear. In fact I am the largest rodent in this part of the world, as for my hairy legs....It is very cold out and the hairy serves as insulation in winter. In summer it keeps the sun off my skin too.
Glad you are enjoying the story telling. It is refreshing to share my world with all of you wonderful hubbers. Hope you will read about my pet views, and living conditions in the latest hub I wrote for shinujohn's request.
Thank everyone for entertaining yourselves and myself with your comments. Isn't this nice?
Dear PoorQpine, you make a strong argument about the hairy legs. Think I'll stop shaving mine, too.
And yes, I am enjoying your stories and looking forward to more. Who knew rodents (yuck!) could be so talented?
Yes, this is nice.
Shirley...I forgot to tell you about the importance of my business. You see HUMANS think they are the all mighty but I will have them know a few things to enlighten their thoughts and rekindle what they have lost with the so called industrial revolution, technological advancements and so on.... they have lost much of their ability to see what is truly important and most all of their natural instincts. I am out to help and try to do my BESTEST to save the damn planet.....Still wondering about what porcupine business could possibly be meaningful?
Example= why should anyone or anything go hungry on this planet when so much food is being wasted as we write here?
I eat like a king, I am 10lbs overweight, according to the Dr. and most young American HUMANS are right there with me.
Kids do not know how to enjoy THINKING if it is not wired to something and most do not know how to use an old fashioned bottle cap remover. It is time something be done about it.
Now it is time to start eating, excuse me. Have a good day.
Stop shaving your legs and mail all of your razors to the military. They tell me it is mandatory for the young men to be clean shaven. Or....you could donate them to a homeless shelter so the fellows there are not so creepy looking.
Maybe they need all that facial hair to make them look crazy so mean humans won't pick on them or maybe they think like me and want to stay warm.
I am not judging and I do not think greatest on an empty stomach.
God bless you Mis Shirley!
All this talk of nibbling on food...hope you don't need go on a diet ... good thing climbling trees keeps you in shape, lol ..hope your holidays were the best! lol
Dame Scribe,
Doc put me on a diet at the age of 2. I laughed hard! The food this year was awesome, one of the folks in the hood dumped out the cornbread dressing yesterday. I ate til' my stomach was so full I could hardly make that tree. Least there is no snow or ice right now to make it slick. Thanks for reading with me, poorQpine.
