Feeding Pets Table Scraps

I realize the holidays are upon us and we want to add a little spice to our cat or dogs's food bowl. Not a good idea according to various vets I've talked with over the years.

Table food is too fatty for the digestive systems of most animals and can lead to severe upsets and can trigger possible fatal pancreatic inflammation. Avoid chicken and turkey bones as they are dangerous. They can splinter and puncture the stomach or intestines. Avoid chocolate as it can be toxic.

It's recommended to call your vet if one of your pets gets into the trash and eats scraps or gets onto a table and into your plate when you head is turned. That's always fun to walk away and come back to an empty plate!

Happy Holidays!

Good article, I have heard manytime about Not giving your dog chocolate. But I thought that he other table scraps were ok except for bones and pork.

Thanks, Louise. We have never given our dogs any table scraps. The vet is totally against it.
