Feel Good Duets

This hub is part of series about feel good music covering a variety of topics such as friendships and the Christmas season. All the thoughts I explore here are just some of the emotions and reactions I get from listening to these songs, but I am sure the writers had completely different ideas when they penned these scores. Duets are a lovely way for two musicians to collaborate and create a beautiful music together. I am not a musician, but my ears appreciate duets that are created by some stellar musicians and artists. Duets are a treat for the ears and fun to see two artists collaborating.

I have always loved Shakira and her musical talent. Shakira was born in Columbia, but her father is of a man of Lebanese descent who is from New York, which is another reason I could identify with her. My Syrian/Lebanese great-grandparents first opened a small store in New York before moving to Indiana. I have always been intrigued with Shakira because she is a excellent belly dancer that creations a fusion of ancient and modern techniques. I have intended to take belly dancing classes, so it is kind of interesting to see a musician incorporate this technique in her concerts. It is fun to watch Shakira belly dance and gives the beginner a few ideas about how to incorporate this style with other dance moves.

Beyonce is another one of the few musicians that I truly love in the world of modern music. I distinctly remember I stopped watching MTV in 1990 when the fun and feel good videos of the eighties were going out of existence. However, Beyonce is so talented and she is one of the few musicians that has convinced me to occasionally watch MTV in is modern incantation, but only if Beyonce or Shakira happen to be on when I am flipping by this station. So last year I was happily surprised to discover their feel good duet Beautiful Liaras I was channel surfing. I like how Beyonce said in interviews she wrote a song about women being friends and not fighting over a man that lied about cheating on them both, which is a great lesson for both men and women to observe. Shakira's belly dancing and Beyonce's RB style make this duet a spectacular treat for the eyes and ears. I also enjoyed the Spanish version of Beautiful Liar and it is worth checking out if you have not heard it. Duets are a wonderful way to see two great musicians fuse their very different styles.
