Say you're a man who likes to wear women's clothing, but isn't quite comfortable going out in public that way. What you need is a way to ease into female fashions, a point of departure, so to speak. Rings
A pretty ring looks good on any finger, and rings are generally regarded to be fairly genderless, which means people are unlikely to call you on a pretty ring. Maybe just wearing just one earring would be a way to be more feminine yet be masculine.
If you're a bit scared of having feminine earrings, you could always get a less visible piercing. There's lots of very nice belly button jewelry.
I had a frenum done for a while, but it started to migrate when I put something prettier in. :( Can't say that would make you feel feminine though.
I enjoy wearing women's pants.
First was a pair of low-rise, stretch denim jeans. Size 16 felt so nice and clingy I tried size 14, and they're even nicer some days. I wear T-shirts or rugby shirts that hang over the belt line and nobody notices. But they do feel fine!
I like wearing pants with the side-zip as more feminine. L.L.Bean often has nice ones on sale in stretch corduroy and in stretch velvet - for at home

Try Lands' End for your side zips. I prefer them to LL Bean because they hem your pants to order. My legs are different lengths so I get them hemmed to fit. Don't know where you live, but here in San Francisco I wear my side-zips out in public all the time. As long as my top falls to at least high hip I don't worry. I even wear them to work.
i have a couple of hoop earings and some and several multi strand chain with beaded earings, and just bought dragon head earings. Fun!!.
This past week I was challenged by my SO to wear stockings and Garters all week, all day. I agreed only if we wore matching lingerie, right down to the color and pattern. How much more female can I feel knowing she and i are dresed the same underneath.

I frequently wear outfits bought entirely in the women’s section, and nobody has ever said anything to me, even when I have worn skirts. Recently, I even made a point of making sure the straps of my camisole were showing and wore a small necklace, and still no one showed any reaction. This is without wearing a wig, makeup, or trying in any way to look like anything other than a guy wearing feminine clothes. I’m middle aged and have short, thin hair, so there’s no mistake about gender.
I make it a point to look around and see what ladies my age are wearing and try to dress tastefully and conservatively.
I’m very encouraged by the utter lack of reaction so far, and I can envision a day when I feel entirely comfortable wearing whatever I feel like in any circumstances, regardless of which side of the store I bought them. Men wearing dresses, skirts, and other pretty clothes will only become mainstream if we get out there and make it happen.

I have worn skirts in male mode during the summer when it was too hot to wear jeans.
Why should I have to suffer with sweating legs when a skirt makes more sense?
No one says anything at all. Not even a single disapproving look. In fact people just treat me the same as if I had been wearing jeans.
I realize that Hope's article was mentioning being subtle. Unwanted attentions? - I have yet to meet this type of person Hope. Maybe I live in the right area. Or maybe it's my attitude which rubs off onto strangers passing by.
Personally, I am not into any jewellery but can understand if others want to try it.

Earrings are easy. I wear diamond, sapphire or ruby studs every day. Choosing to coordinate with my suit/shirt/tie combo. Casual Friday may call for the small silver or gold hoops. Not having long (or very much to be honest) hair to mute/frame drop earrings, I haven't worn the ones I have very often recently. Another thing I do wear is delicate silver chains with pendants or other types of necklaces. Under the dress shirt on suit days, out in the open framed by a scoop neck T-shirt on other days.
I am lucky in that San Francisco has a certified street artist program. I have bought necklaces and earrings from four of them who sell near the Ferry Building. All of them have custom made things for me that we designed together.
I also wear all kinds of women's outerwear over my panties and camis on Fridays and weekends. Pants (long and short), fleece tops, women's shirts, sweaters and coats. Mostly black or earth tones and no flowers :).
