Female Wrestling-TNA Knockout-Velvet Sky
69TNA Knockout, Velvet Sky
Jamie Szantyr was born June 2, 1981 in New Britain, Connecticut.
She's better known working at TNA as Velvet Sky, or wrestling outside of TNA as Talia Madison.
This young lady is more than a pretty face.
Before wrestling, Jamie was into cheerleading, softball, cross-country, and track.
Jamie started out learning to wrestle at Jason Knight's (who you may remember from ECW) "House of Pain Pro Wrestling Dojo".
After she finished training at the Dojo, she started working for Independent wrestling promotions under a variety of names such as Miss Talia, Talia Doll, and Talia Madison.
While she was doing that, she had her first brush with TNA (sorta) as she and Indy wrestler April Hunter formed a tag team called "T&A".
April was the "T" and Talia was the "A".
While on the Indy circuit, Velvet won her first title in World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW), winning a battle royal on May 29, 2004 to capture the WXW Women's Championship.
She made a few appearances for the wrestling promotion formerly known as WWF in 2005 and 2006.
Of course they didn't recognize her talent and she was never signed to a contract.
Talia won the Defiant Pro Wrestling Women's title on April 8, 2006 after defeating Alere Little Feather and another lady she would work with in the future at TNA, Nikki Roxx, in a three-way match.
She went to work for Women's Extreme Wrestling as Talia Doll, and she and April Hunter reunited to win the WEW Tag Team titles.
Velvet also held the WEW World Women's title for a time after defeating Angel Orsini (Riptide) in a match on May 5 2007.
In 2007 when TNA announced their women's division, Jamie entered the division as Talia Madison.
After the 10-woman Gauntlet match at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view, her ring name was changed to Velvet Sky
In December 2007, she and Angelina Love were paired together as Velvet Love Entertainment. The name was later changed to "The Beautiful People" and she and Angelina became heels in short order.
She got a shot at the Knockouts title after winning a Knockouts Battle Royal on TNA Impact! on July 17, but lost the title match and two more title shots in rapid succession to then Champion Taylor Wilde.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked Velvet twenty third of the best 50 female singles wrestlers in the PWI Female Top 50 in 2008.
