Femtocell Technology Coming Soon In the FemtoJack
The Gurus at Ymax Corporation recently announced that they are nearly finished with a new type of femtocell that hooks into computers just as the magicJack does. This new product was referred to by Ymax CEO, Daniel Borislow as the "femtoJack" and is being developed by the same company that came out with the magic Jack.
The femtoJack is a femtocell that will be used in a similar fashion as the Magic Jack. It comes as a average sized USB device that you simply hook up to your computer. Once hooked up you are able to instantly connect a telephone to a VoIP network and route all outgoing calls over a broadband internet connection. The special thing about the FemtoJack however is that it is a femtocell that is made to work with cellular phones instead of landlines. With the Femto Jack the need for a landline could be reduced to none since users will be able to get plans that include unlimited minutes while in range of the femtoJack.
The femtoJack is likely to be a huge product for the Ymax Corporation, probably bigger than the magicJack, and a top product over the next several years. The beauty of the femtoJack is in the potentially unlimited minutes which will allows cell users to greatly reduce monthly overage charges that they are use to dealing with. In theory, the FemtoJack basically turns your cell phone into a landline telephone (only without the wires) while in range of it. It is also great because it works as a cell signal booster in that it provides crystal clear service within its range.
If you want to get the femtoJack you will probably have to wait until early 2010. Ymax is still in the process of developing it and there are still issues to be dealt with including dealing with FCC regulations and working with major U.S. cell phone carriers on some sort of agreement.
