Fennel seed is a memeber of the Umbellifereae family which includes carrots, parsely, coriander, and dill. The fennel seed is crunchy and slighly sweet. It is comprised of a bulb, stem, leaves, and seeds all of which are edible.

History

The fennel seed has a rich history especially in greece. It used to be referred to as marathon because they grew in a field in which an ancient battle was fought. It has been grown in europe for years. The asians are most notorious for taking advantage of the health benefits of fennel seeds.
