Detail of "Vigna della Congregazione" vineyard
Definitely the Fiano from Montefredane, a small village lying on a hill near Avellino, mainly clay; it's very recognizable and characterized.
The Fiano of Montefredane have a innate class, it's samples of longevity because usually focus on a more pronounced sour freshness,a rock minerality, forming a pendant to the body extracts less rich than one from Lapio. Wines are subtle, with mineral nose timbre that is changing ever, very fine and intense, enriched by a very peculiar smell of undergrowth that goes from the leaf of the chestnut tree fern. The mouth is tight, but beautifully long. Are generally wines that are expected and drunk far in time, because of their "vertical" at times poignant.
The Fiano made by Antoine Gaita, the Vigna della Congregazione, is a wine of rare elegance, it has almost a French touch.
At the nose is awfully mineral, but complex, rich, articulate, and yet never over the top: always measured, with a grace and Olympic calm.
More than the hazelnut, the scents is almost chestnut, with just the feelings of honey, but without the slightest winking, then spices, herbs: mint, anise ... It is probably the most full of nuances, a sample of race, complex palate and fine, and a long finish. It is one of the whites of my life.
You drink it listening to Mozart.
The one of Villa Diamante is a niche production. But precious few bottles have given voice to a territory of election within of the Irpina Denominazione DOCG. And what a voice!.
