Fibromyalgia Help
65Fibromyalgia may seem like a simple syndrome of just having a symptoms of body pain and few other minor symptoms to go along with the body pain, when in reality it is a complex syndrome that involves much more symptoms other than body pain, impaired memory, hearing, seeing, and other symptoms as such. Fibromyalgia can come with other medical issues also.
One of these medical issues is Irritable Bowel Syndrome or better known as IBS. It may also be referred to as spastic colon, mucous colitis, nervous stomach, or irritable colon. Gastroenterologists describe IBS as a disturbance in the interaction between the gut or intestines, the brain, and the autonomic nervous system that alters regulation of the bowel motility. Interstitial Cystitis or Painful Bladder Syndrom (PBS), is another symptom of Fibromyalgia. This is where there is the need to urinate frequently or the feeling to do so. When the bladder is full, the pain worsens and can cause severe cramping. Kidney stones can come along with these also because the body is not working properally. I have suffered with kidney stones for years and did not realize that I had these two syndromes. I was always told it was calcium buildup in my body, wAhich it was also, but after getting diagnosed with Fibromyalgia then it was shown that I suffered with IBS and PBS. Now I can take the medication needed to help with these and in turn I don't suffer with kidney stones as much anymore. When the doctor diagnoses IBS or PBS a person may not know it is a Fibromyalgia symptom, but it is and should get checked out especially if other symptoms come along with it.
Another medical issue is Chronic Fatigue Syndrom (CFS), this goes hand and hand with Fibromyalgia. If a person is diagnosed with one usually the other comes along with it. CFS is extreme fatigue over a three to six month period, along with headaches, sore throat, swelling of joints, sleeplessness, impaired memory. CFS comes with body pain also, but not as severe as Fibromyalgia. A lot of medical professional lump CFS and Fibromyalgia together because they hold some of the same symptoms. It is shown that over 90% of the people with Fibromyalgia also have Chronic Fatigue Syndrom.
Arthritis is another symptom of Fibromyalgia. In 1990 the American College of Rheumatology stated that people with Arthritis usually have or can get Fibromyalgia. Rheumatoid Arthritis is the most common form of arthritis a person with Fibromyalgia can have. This can be determined by testing and should be tested for on a regular basis. About 40% of the people with Fibromyalgia have arthritis. These are just a few of the major medical issues that are also Fibromyalgia symptoms. When getting checked out by a doctor for the above symptoms it would be wise to question about Fibromyalgia and see if the symptoms that are causing the other medical issues also have become symptoms of Fibromyalgia. These medical issues are treatable in some ways, which in turn would help with the symptoms of Fibromyalgia to lessen in these areas.
