Final Fantasy XI has been a game that truly made progression of online game play and console online game play come to be more extensive. Final Fantasy XI is the 11 Final Fantasy in the series, being the first to incorporate a massively multi-player online role playing game. It has been commonly stated that Final Fantasy XI follows much of the style that Final Fantasy III had, but there are still many differences in this game. There are currently over half a million players that subscribe to Final Fantasy XI, and there have been over two million characters created on Final Fantasy XI!
Final Fantasy XI is the first Final Fantasy game to incorporate a real time battle sequence, as enemies engaged are seen in the real world and not just random enemy encounters. There exist many different jobs or classes for players to become, such as warrior, paladin, dancer, and much, much more. Making parties and fighting in groups is still a good way to level up on this online game.
Final Fantasy XI does have a plot, however, that is followed throughout the game even though it is an massively multi-player online role playing game (MMORPG). The plot is, as the other Final Fantasies, rather good and engaging for players in the game.
Final Fantasy XI can be played on the Xbox 360, Play Station 2, and computer, the first online game playable on multiple systems! Final Fantasy XI really did set the tone for other video games to follow, in regards to its online capabilities.
There exist a large amount of mini games and things to do in Final Fantasy XI, as games can range from chocobo tasks and races to gardening. Player Vs. Player games, however, do exist but there are not too many of them and this is often an area that many gamers feel lacks currently in the Final Fantasy XI online realm.
Final Fantasy XI actually requires a monthly fee for game play, like World of Warcraft, but gamers agree that the fee is worth the time spent playing the game. I prefer the method of buying the game and paying that fee once and having no monthly fees, like Everquest, then needing to pay out a few bucks a month. Its said to be worth it, however, and with the title of Final Fantasy, it is.
One concern that gamers have started to be troubled about is that the graphics have started to become dated. Final Fantasy XI creators, Square Enix, are sure to come up with a solution eventually, but this is something to keep in mind with the picky visually up-to-date gamers.
Final Fantasy XI is the first Final Fantasy game to be made exclusively online and it is definitely worth playing!
