Final Firefight Fraternity
63
The High Price For Freedom:
You stated your name...the day you stood tall,
To proudly serve our country...to serve us all.
Knowing that you could fall…
Now, your name is on a memorial wall.
A brother in arms who stood in harms way,
Here is where these brave men now lay.
In a small cemetery...in a huge city...you can see…
Where these members lie of the final firefight fraternity.
One is very dear to me, but all four have clearly...
Given up their earthly destiny.
They gave up what their future could be,
I am grateful to them...and now I truly see,
That the price for freedom is not free. (*)
How many years before I see you again?
My son, my brother, and my friend.
I will shake your hand...with respect then…
And thank you for fighting unto the end.
You are my hero...each and everyone,
You trained real hard to carry a gun.
You died in service to us...now it's done…
You stood and fought...you didn't run.
The earth is quiet here...Yet, a plane goes overhead…
I look around at the ground...A part of me is also dead.
But, I want to think of you instead…
For each and every one of you...I dread,
That not enough thanks will ever be said.
You’re going to stand with your brothers…the way it must be?
For Call of Duty…You went to serve in the U.S.M.C.
You volunteered and served so…admirably.
I am so sorry...I wish it had been the older one...me.
Now…we must stand with you…and must agree…
For now...that has become the way it must be!
I will never forget you…and the Final Firefight Fraternity.

Big Thank You to your husband...I know you miss him greatly...of course...but he served us all well, during a very hard time. God Be With You during this Memorial Weekend and for always! We also will have you in our thoughts and prayers. Semper Fi
Home of the Free, Because of the Brave. A great testiment to all of our fallen and to those whose courage still serves unselfishly.
Well Done Sir, the honor you bring to your fallen step-son is unparralleled.
readytoescape: Precisely, my friend...as you stated: "Home of the Free, Because of the Brave"...We hear this...but how many times do we know folks who are personally affected? There are young ones who serve us unselfishly (as you put it...so correctly) who don't return...or who are seriously injured by War...This is a reality. One that should never be forgotten!
Thank you for this comment. Humble Regards, MPM.

my husband is a Marine, Force Recon and did 3 tours in Vietnam to start his career. i say "is" because he used to tell me even though Marines can die they don't stop being Marines. my husband was "deployed to Heaven" 101 days ago. i love "Final Firefight Fraternity." it was long years before my husband could go see the names of his mates on the other Wall, the black scar that is so fitting and so beautiful for the Vietnam - dare i say it, Conflict.
i wish for you and your wife, peace deep inside. now that i know of you and your step-son, i will keep him and your family in my thoughts all during this long Memorial Weekend. Semper Fi.
