I'm going to assume you have no experience with web-marketing, for yourself or anyone else. This assumption allows us to skip the technical jargon and head straight to the crux of Internet business models and generating your own wealth within the industry.

99% of business models for making money online use marketing and advertisment as the primary revenue generator. Affiliate marketing comes to mind or google adsense. There are millions of programs that offer others to follow a recipe and yield fantastic investment returns. Many times they explain, "do exactly as I say" and you will make money. This scam has been cloned so many times that you can find several thousand websites with the exact same pitch lines (I guess people not only did what he said but wrote what he said as well). Thus we have the best environment for the pyramid scheme, making people join only to make them sell your product and earn a percentage while you gain immeasurable wealth in the process. These processes should be made illegal.

If you would like to know what these sites are really selling, then I can save you a few hundred dollars on buying guides and manuals. Scroll through 10 websites, and imitate what they sell, you have developed your own marketing strategy- a composite of other website techniques- and then you can virtually sell these techniques using those very same techniques to create your pitch to generate profits. This is what every "entrepreneur" self-made millionaire has done. And that you can easily do as well. 

This is such a simple procedure, but the companies that make outlandish offers play on the nature of man, his laziness and need for reward without effort. Effort is something that is required in any endeavour, even brushing your teeth. You can make things habitual, but initially, without learning discipline, you can spend 1000s on internet programs only to have them go no where.

Thus if you want to run your own show, then put effort into coming up with an idea, look at other strategies without investing a dime, see what works and research carefully. There is no such thing as the guru of affiliate marketing. In my experience internet marketing is just as strange as calculus, it takes time to dwell upon. Instant success is never guarenteed unless you have someone working for you as a servant. Or rather 20 people. Even then, starting up a business requires serious perserverence.

The fundamental flaw to every site I have ever come across selling something is how much is hidden from the reader. This is a trap.

If you buy into a program you end up falling short everytime, because it is only through testing your own vision and failing that you will ever learn something of value. Make mistakes, and be dilligent. The hardest thing to do in life is to aquire discipline. If your parents have not given you this, then you must find it on your own. Start as soon as you can because the difference between successful internet marketers and yourself is a difference of discipline, I guarentee it.
