Financing a campaign priceless
55In the past I have been accused of being biased when talking about Barack Obama, one reader accused me of being a McCainonite (What the hell is a McCainonite anyway? Is that anything like a Mennonite?). Let me set the record straight: I am not endorsing any one candidate for President; I am not telling you who you should vote for; I am merely presenting you the readers with the tools to make an informed decision. With all of that in mind, I want to take this opportunity and discuss Cindy McCain and her spending gone wild. In any Presidential election we are not just electing the President, we also are electing the First Lady, or if Hillary was the nominee, the First Gentleman. This being said we need to take a serious look at Cindy McCain and her extravagant shopping spree she had not too long ago. Cindy McCain charged as much as $500,000 in a single month on one American Express card and $250,000 on another, while one of their two dependent children had an AmEx card with a monthly balance as large as $50,000. Now I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with spending three quarters of a million dollars in a single month -- I say if you have it spend it -- however what I do have to say is how can you and your husband talk to us about feeling our pain when you are single handily stimulating the economy by yourself while a factory worker in Allentown has to work two or three jobs to pay the rent and provide food for his family? An aide for the McCain campaign was quick to point out that the balances are not ongoing debt. Well, thank God for that! I don't know how the poor dear could survive if it was ongoing debt. I am in no way saying that Cindy McCain should go around wearing a burlap sack, I just feel that as the spouse of a Presidential hopeful she needs to cut down on the spending, say spend only $100,000 a month. I know that cutting back so would be hard on Mrs. McCain, but she would find a way to survive.
Add to the fact that the McCain's have been less than forthcoming with their financial information; my question to them is this why all of the secrecy are you afraid that the American people will see that you are filthy rich and be deterred from voting for you? We need a President that will fix the mess that the previous administration has caused, one that can relate to the little people of this country and tell them to their faces that their job and home is safe. John McCain is not appearing to be that choice. Besides, if Cindy McCain has that much money to spend, why doesn't she put it to good use, say use it to get her husband elected President. Hell with gas prices being what they are, use that money to fuel the Straight Talk Express.
