it is hard to believe but it really is time to start shopping for Christmas gifts. Let me suggest that you do your shopping at your local thrift stores. I live in Georgia and we have an abundance of thrift stores in Georgia. There are several thrift stores in Georgia which are very popular. All of these thrift stores have a lot of items that will make great gifts. Almost everyone is on some type of budget this year due to the economy. Being on a budget does not mean that you cannot have a great Christmas. There are super gifts for everyone in the family. Often time the thrift stores have brand new merchandise that is more than 75 percent off the regular price. You are able to shop for all sizes of clothing. Most of the larger thrift stores also have dressing rooms to try on clothing.

If you are not sure what to look for in thrifts stores here are some suggestions. For anyone looking for gifts for children, this time of year there is a large assortment of toys donated to the thrift stores in Georgia. Some of these toys are from major department stores and are being donated because the store is updating their stock for this Christmas. My favorite store for new toys is the Goodwill Store. Goodwill seems to have more of a selection for toys, especially stuffed animals or toddler toys.

Another great suggestion for a gift is a book. Almost all the thrift stores have a large assortment of books for both children and adults. You can find books about pretty much any subject. These book are in great shape and most have no writing in the book. You may need to look a little longer and the choice may be harder, but you can get a hardback book for as little as $2.50. There are usually a large selection of cookbooks, self help books, science fiction books and bestseller books. There is also a great selection of children's books for sale. These can be purchased for as little as 75 cents each. Sometimes the stores will even have set of books for sale. Last year I bought Barack Obama's "Dreams of My Father" from a Goodwill Store for half the price as in the book store. I gave the book to my cousin as a Christmas gift.

A great gift for someone who is a collector of anything can be found at thrift stores. In other words you can find almost anything at the thrift store that is of gift quality. For people who collect dolls, there is usually an assortment of porcelain dolls for sale. For people who collect vintage jewelry, there is a large selection of jewelry for sale at the Goodwill Stores.

Of course the number one thing that people buy as gifts is clothing. The clothing at the thrift stores come in all sizes and colors. Some of the clothing is vintage in style. Most of the clothing is modern day styled. I can often put together an outfit that you might see on a famous movie star by visiting the thrift stores in Georgia. Once again just have patience and you will find the right style and size.

I have found that every state in the south have Goodwill Stores and Salvation Army Stores. The American Family Thrift Store is located in Georgia and Alabama.
