Skin care is a bit of a maze, with thousands of skincare products all claiming to do wonderful things for your skin. Most of us need some kind of skin cream to keep ourselves feeling soft and lovely, whether it's for our hands, faces or body. The problem is finding the right skin care cream for our needs.

A lot of people make the mistake of equating expensive with effective when it comes to skin care products. While a lot of expensive products do do a wonderful job, it is possible to find a low-cost product that does just as well, it's a case of looking around and trying a few out.

Recommendations are a great way to find cheaper products, I was in Lidl the other day and having already fallen in love with their own brand anti-aging face cream (it's packed with fab stuff, including Q10 - well impressed with it), thought I would try and find a cheap and cheerful body lotion. Now anyone who has shopped in Lidl will no doubt know that their bath & body section looks a bit jumbled. So there I was looking at two bottles, one called body lotion the other called body creme, trying to work out what the difference was and which one I should get, when the lady next to me lent over with a totally different pot of cream in her hand and said "this is the most amazing stuff, it leaves your skin feeling so soft and not at all greasy, I've got all my friends using it and I stock up whenever they have any in" well, with a recommendation like that it seemed rude not to so I bought it. I have to say she was spot on, it smells divine, it goes on like any expensive cream does and has left my skin feeling wonderful.

While trial and error is OK for most people, it's not so easy if you have very sensitive skin, or have any skin conditions that need special care. Sensitive skin can take a while to adjust to a product, and once you have found something that works for your skin it is probably best not to change it. Having said that, if you can downgrade the level of chemicals in your skin care creams then this is always a good step to take. I actually found a cream a while back that consisted of olive oil, lavender and chamomile - nothing else. It is actually sold as a bum butter for babies, but it works wonders on any skin anywhere on the body - even the face although it has to be used sparingly as it is so rich. Finding the best skin care cream may take a while, but it is worth persevering until you find something that suits your skin and leave you feeling soft and lovely everyday.
