Find work at home
63Write Anything You Like
Are you a US Citizen
Unfortunately this is the first block that hits most of us trying to find work at home online. Most freelancer jobs are available only to US Citizens or Native English Speakers.
Its like saying do work from home, but not for us.
I recently read a hub that gave some resources like Demand Studios and Text Broker. Being a freelancer I was elated and headed over to check them out. Only to find out that since I was not a US Resident I was not eligible to become a member of the site.
So I can't work from home for some sites, big deal you say.
Worse is yet to follow. There are some sites like Triond and Bukisa falling over themselves to tell you write for us. Write what ever you want and we will publish it. Plus we'll pay you for it. Bukisa even takes stuff that you have written else where and publishes it.
Think its too good to be true? Yes it is. These sites accept just about any content from anyone. Then they post them up on their own sites. Only the way to earn a single dollar on the site, is if the article gets 8000 unique hits. Which is near impossible for a beginner.
It can be most discouraging for a beginner to pour heart and soul into content which does not even get half a dozen visitors in a week. Naturally this is no way to make money online.

Slowly but surely
There is a million schemes that people say you can succeed making money online. Personally having tried out a few, I have realized nothing that says "get rich quick" works.
Your success monetary or otherwise is determined by how hard you work and the direction in which you are putting in all that effort.
Personally I have found that there is no passive income for beginners. If you are new to the online work force you will not find it easy to break into the market. There is intensive competition.
If you have special skills then it will be easier for you, but for some one who has no programming and coding background, it can be tough. You are not helped by what ever professional traning you have had. You are learning a new skill every day.
If you are computer savvy it is easier for you. Still there are new procedures at work that you must understand and use. Registering free with most freelance sites will not give you access to the best projects.

Look in the right places
Finding work as a freelancer has a lot to do with being lucky. If you get a break you will be noticed and potential employers will want to hire you. Getting that break can take some time. This is a solid test of your patience.
I have always been lucky because my friends have been the ones to point me in the right direction. Often getting me my first projects in the bargain as well. Still the joy of getting my very first project on my own on Guru was amazing.
That feeling of elation gives you a high you can fly on. It gets tempered down after you have won the bids on a few projects, but I still can hear my heart singing when I win one more work from home project.
Personally I have had good experiences on Guru, Elance, Odesk, Get A Coder and Rent A Coder. Some how the Get A Freelancer and I Freelance sites did not do too much for me. Yet the money is not in that first project you do.
The money comes with the repeated business that you get from employers who find you via these sites. So its vital to keep a cordial and professional working relationship with them.

Brian I agree, when I started hunting for work online I would find hundreds of offers, but they all had some catch.
Candie thanks for stopping by.
Thanks ripple maker. Fortunately I am lucky to have a husband who can look after all our financial needs. That means I have the freedom to stay at home and indulge myself.

Are there any free-lance writing sites set up in India? There seem to be so many Indian writers, that it would make sense to do this. India does have a rapidly growing economy. I'm surprised there aren't more online opportunities in that country, supporting its native languages.
All the best Guardian.
Nelle there are a few sites, but not as much activity as on th einternational sites. Indians are yet to trust the net as far as the majority of people go.
Good advice

Good advice, finding ways of earning a decent income on line can be really tough. Always helps when you can find genuine advice rather than someone trying to line their pockets by selling you false hope.
