The do and don'ts of gettting a wireless surveillance system.

Finding a cheap wireless security camera and not getting ripped off can be frustrating. There are a lot of security systems out there and finding the best wireless security system may take some looking.

Fortunately there have been some advancements of late (last year or so) that make the choice and installing a snap. The new wireless cameras by Avermedia have a great range and superior picture quality. They are easy to install and hook directly to your PC. No need for a wireless camera monitors!

In my professional opinion there are a few basics to keep in mind about the security camera system philosophy.

  • Have 100 percent coverage! If there’s a place to get in you need to have a camera on it, home or business. If you leave 10% of the area uncovered then the burglars will find it, guaranteed. Too many times entrance is made and there is no recording. Sure cameras were rolling, the alarm went off but they were long gone when the police got there and you don't have the slightest idea of who they were or what they were driving.
  • Use dummy cameras when possible! There’s a reason they make them, they work. Incorporated with a real system they can be set in areas that are remote like out buildings, driveways, play areas and business parking lots. They can be put on the top of a roof in very plain sight which says to everyone, "you’re being watched".
  • Cheap is Good! Even the cheap wireless security cameras work great, no need to pay $1,000's on cameras and monitors. New systems have DVR, Infrared, Color and all weather capabilities. They come with guarantees and service staff that can assist you anytime with installation and pointers. Make sure your system works at night, homes and businesses are usually robbed after dark.
