If you wish to lose weight but want to do so in a natural manner you may wish to consider the use of herbal weight loss supplements. As with any type of weight loss product you should consult with your medical doctor before starting any sort of diet or taking any kind of supplement. The reasoning behind this is that some herbal remedies can in fact be dangerous to the human body. These dangerous types of weight loss supplements are readily available over the counter in health food stores as well as online web sites.

The good news is that not all of the weight loss supplements that you see are bad for you or are a waste of your hard earned money. It is important that you read the label of the product carefully since some herbal compositions are capable of producing some very undesirable side effects.

Generally the herbal combinations that are sold for weight reduction tend to increase the bodies metabolism in order to help you to reduce your weight level. In addition, by increasing the metabolism you are also providing a means by which your body can cleanse itself.

These types of products and the results that they produce may very well be of use to you in the short term however in terms of the long run they would be entirely useless unless accompanied by specific changes in ones life style. I have taken the liberty to list several of the more common herbal weight loss supplements that are on the market today. Please keep in mind that this information is in no way intended to replace the professional information supplied to you by your physician.

The guarana herbal weight loss supplement is commonly known as “zoom”. This supplement is generally used as an additive to many common weight loss supplements primarily for its diuretic and stimulant effects. The most active ingredient found in this product is caffeine. There are specific possible side effects that can be experienced by use of this product which include increased heartbeat, frequent need for urination, thinning of the blood and elevated blood pressure. One will readily discover that if the user is a regular caffeine drinker the effects are less prominent. Although Guarana can provide the user with a great boast in energy and is even capable of stopping certain types of headaches if employed in concentrated quantities it can produce minor tremors within the user. Many advertisers tend to rate this herbal product as having no side effects what so ever but this is simply no true in the least.

The next item that I would like to cover is Hoodia. Most people recall seeing advertisements for hoodia on the television or receiving such notifications in their email. It is claimed to be one of the greatest weight loss supplements available today.

In case you are unfamiliar with what Hoodia is I will briefly explain it here. Hoodia is a plant from Kalari. It has been used for hundreds of years by the Bushmen to curve appetites and thus ultimately reduce weight. The evidence available seems to suggest that perhaps hoodia actually does work. Other common uses for this herb include its use as an aphrodisiac, for digestive benefits or as a general tonic to help the body fight illnesses. This may sound great however studies have shown that many of the internet sold items contain very little hoodia at all. The reason being that there currently is no way in which a pill can be created which contains enough Hoodia in a cost effective manner
