Regardless of what type of internet you have, everyone connects to the internet through A IP address. That is Internet Protocol. There are two types of IP Address; Dynamic and Static.

Dynamic is where the IP address keeps changing every time that you get online and Static is where the IP address never changes.

Website IP addresses are typically static, but you may have a couple different webaddress you use for your website.  As for the ISP, cable internet is usually static too.  Dial up is usually dynamic

Can I Change My IP Address?

If you are on a Dynamic IP address, you can change it.

How Do I Change My IP Address?

I could easily tell you here how to change the IP address here, but I figured that I would send you to the site that I learned it from in the first place some years ago.

What Is My IP Address?

How Do I Check What My IP Address Is?

You can use the information I gave above to find it or if you are on windows go to start and if you are on vista in the search box you can put in command. When you come to the dos prompt put in ipcofig. It should give that information to you. If you still on XP, go to start run and then command and then put in ipconfig.

Pointers To Website Owners

For you guys whom run forums and you have problems with bots and people in general.  No matter what you do, you can't just ban those people based off of IP address because if people whom know what they are doing can easily change their address.
