The internet offers unlimited opportunities to make money online. But with so many scams out there, finding legitimate home based business opportunities presents a challenge. How can you tell which ones will make you money and which ones will take your money?
Here are four tips to help you to sift through the scams and find the legitimate home based business opportunities.
The ratio of how much money you can vs. how much time you invest is unrealistic
We’ve all seen these ads. They are the ones that shout: “Make thousands of dollars working only five minutes a day.” If this were really possible jobs would be obsolete because everyone would be on a beach, somewhere, enjoying the fruits of their few minutes of labor.
The truth is that it takes more than five minutes a day to make a legitimate home based businesses work, especially when you first get started. If an opportunity you are looking at is making these claims you can bet the only person who will be making money are the people running this scam.
You have to pay first before you get any information about the opportunity
Beware of opportunities that require you to send in money before they will tell you anything about it. These are often disguised as a “secret report” that will teach you how to generate thousands of dollars in income. But in order to access that report, you have to give them a “deposit” to show you are “serious” about making money.
The only secret here is that the person selling this report is making thousands of dollars by scamming people looking for legitimate home based business opportunities. The only thing you need to be serious about when confronted with ads like these is leaving the website you found them on.
The advertisements are vague and don’t give details about what you’ll be doing to earn money
These ads cannot emphasize enough the amount of money you’ll be making. But try to find any information about what you’ll be doing to earn that money and you might as well be hunting for the lost city of Atlantis.
Beware. A lot of scammers use this tactic to collect information from you that they will later use for less than altruistic purposes. For example, some unethical webmasters will collect your email address and then sell it to email spammers.
They claim famous people endorse their system
In order to make it look like a legitimate home business opportunity, many scams will claim to be endorsed by celebrities. It is an easy lie to believe because celebrities endorse products all the time.
The truth is that most celebrities are extremely careful about who they lend their name to. It is highly unlikely that any of them know what a home based business is, let alone would agree to endorse one. This is why it is important to use sites like Snopes.com to root out the fakes.
Stay on your toes and use these tips to avoid falling prey to scammers. There are legitimate home based businesses out there. Keep your eyes open and you’ll find the perfect one in no time.
