Finding a Purpose in Life
60Is it the big house and luxury car? Or is there something more?
If something happened to you tomorrow, what would others remember you for? Would you be happy with what you have done? It is important, especially in today's attitude of consumerism, to sit down and really think about what is important to you and why.
I recently sat down with a pen and paper to help me decide what is really important to me at this point in my life, and this is what I came up with after about 20 minutes:
1. I want to be a great wife and mother, and spend quality time with my son whenever I can (he is still a toddler).
2. I want a job that helps other people change for the better. 3. I want our family to be financially independent - this helps with the first two goals, and gives us more freedom in general.I once had a biology teacher who told everyone that "the thing that gives you the tingles" is your purpose in life. I think that he was on the right track, but there is definitely more to it. The things that gave me the "tingles" a couple of years ago just aren't working for me anymore, and acknowledging this change (as well as deciding what to do about it!) is an important part to personal growth. Pen, paper, and a little honesty can be the first step to helping you find your purpose in life. Best wishes!

Thank you Sunshine. I appreciate you answering my request. I enjoy learning how others go about finding purpose in their lives.
You have given a good idea as to how we can realize our priorities by making a list, thus see our purpose at a given time. Our lives constantly change, don't they?
What we view as our priorities in life, do become our purpose.
