The Right Bluetooth Cordless Phone for You

A while back, I didn't even know what a bluetooth cordless phone was in the first place. I searched the internet to see if I'd get any information, but I just ended up getting punted off to websites that sell bluetooth cordless phones, but don't tell people what they are.

Of course, the universe being the oddball that it is, I soon found myself needing a bluetooth cordless phone for work. As it turns out, having a bluetooth cordless phone is like having an extension line, either for your cell phone, or for your landline.

With a bluetooth cordless phone, for example, you could recieve phone calls to your cell phone through your home phone and/or through the additional handsets that your bluetooth cordless phone system might have. You don't necessarily need to get a landline to be able to use a bluetooth cordless phone system, either. A bluetooth cordless phone is essentially a system of wireless extensions, which are really handy to have if you need to move around a lot but also have a tendency to forget your cell phone in random places in the house, like me.

To find my own bluetooth cordless phone system, I went back online, and to make sure that I was going to get the right kind of purchase, I searched for reviews of models that are currently on the market today.

So far, the model with the best reviews, is the Siemens Gigaset SL785 Bluetooth Cordless Phone. Apparently, this bluetooth cordless phone's sleek design, large diskspace, user-friendly interface, and large display has sent more than a few buyers into raptures. The only complaints I've read basically bemoan the fact that this particular bluetooth cordless phone goes for a bit of a pretty penny: A handset can go for as much as US$170, and a set with six extensions can cost a whopping US$550 or more!

I eventually ended up getting a much cheaper bluetooth cordless phone system: the Panasonic KX-TH1212B, which only set me back US$99.45. It has a lot fewer features though, and it's certainly not as pretty as the Siemens phone. I have absolutely no complaints about my Panasonic bluetooth cordless phone, but if I had my rathers, I'd still like to get my hands on that Siemens Gigaset.

I am interested in using a bluetooth cordless phone (with answering machine) NOT to place calls through my cell phone, but to use our family's cell phones as "extentions" to the land line. Is there a way to do this but to keep calls made from the cordless phone from going through the cell phones? I don't want to use minutes on the cell plan for local calls made on the house phone. I just want everyone to have an extention in their pockets for the house phone.

Thanks!
