Finger Painting for Everybody: Easy, Fun and Mood Lifting
62Storm in the Fields
Have fun, fast!
Finger painting is not only for children, it's for all!
Take some paint, splosh it out on paper, add water, and rub it all around. Choose colours according to your current mood. Let your emotions leave through your fingertips. This is immediate art, and a plastic record. Do whatever you like, let your hands move freely, driven by your feelings; keep the results. Your paintings are artistic journals of your mood. So date them, and keep them in your scrapbook. If you are not too modest, hang them on your walls.
I did some, and I feel like a Van Gogh!
Tips:
- Use glossy art paper for results like mine. The paint is not absorbed by the paper immediately, allowing you more playtime.
- Use your fingernails to create swirls and streaks. These come out white when your nails dig into the paint to reveal the paper behind.
- Use a big sheet of paper and use your elbow as the axis for long curves. Feels good, gives great results.
- Keep a mug of water next to you, and remove paint frequently.
Have fun, and put the results up as a hub!

SunSeven, when I started with hubbing not so long ago, I thought we weren't supposed to comment on our own hubs. So apologies for this late reply.
Know what, my fountain pen leaked too, and I finger painted! Sigh. Don't look now, but our age is showing!
My comments are whenever I paint 'I like to get involved in my work' I usually wear more paint than whats on the wall or whatever other project I'm working on, art included. My children (when they were still children) and I had a special craft-day every month where we experimented with some new art technique- in spring, summer and fall we went out in the barn where it didn't matter how messy we were and painted. Somehow no-matter which medium we started out with, chances were we ended up fingerpainting, we first threw balloons filled with paints then finished it off with fingers, feet,at one time even noses... the good old days... Thank you Kenny that was a great reminder to some almost forgotten memories
GREAT HUB
regards Zsuzsy
Thank you, Zsuzsy, for sharing that memory. You have been a terrific mom and probably a terrific grandmom now! I love that balloons filled with paint idea! And painting with the whole body? The whole event must have sounded to the neighbours like a super laughtrack!
GREAT COMMENT!
Kenny
I never thought to finger paint--I guess I always associated it with children. But it looks like you can do some really interesting things with it. Thanks! Great hub.
That's just the reaction I hoped for! Thanks Tirisacha, for it looks like you would try it!
Thank you Kenny!!
My almost 3 years old daughter wasn´t able to make great work with the rubber technic but I bet that she´s gonna love this one! Nevertheless her mom is going to become furious about the dirty clothes ehehehehehehehe.
The best thing would be to get her mom to try it, too! Everybody knows fingerpainting; my job is only to remind people, I suppose! Thanks, Funride!

Some time back I published a hub on Ilana Yahav. She does her art with her fingers too, with sand as the medium.
I used to finger paint in school days, whenever my old fountain pen leaked(which was frequent) and my fingers got 'inked'! LOL
Best Regards
