Fire Safe Cigarettes: Chemicals Added To Traditional Cigarettes FSC
85It would make sense that with all the harmful chemicals put into traditional cigarettes that the government would be absolutely against tobacco companies adding anything more to your cancer causing cigarettes. You'd think that the government would even be promoting a healthier alternative such as the increasingly popular electronic cigarettes
. But the FDA is fighting that one. They wouldn't want to take money away from the tobacco companies for their cancer causing cigarettes, or the pharmaceutical companies for all their medications to try and quit smoking. The FDA has done testing and gave results July 2009 to show e-cigs are 1,400 times better for people then regular cigarettes. Instead of promoting these though, they are trying to ban them, meanwhile making regular cigarettes even worse right under our noses!!
How surprised would you be to find out that the governments at the state level in every single state in the US have filed or passed legislation that would make it mandatory for cigarettes to have an additional chemical added to cigarettes. Many have actually had the legislation for this chemical already in effect.This also includes all of Canada who use the New York standard requiring this chemical in all cigarettes sold in the country.
The Fire Safe Cigarettes Chemicals
In Fire Safe Cigarettes, identified with the initials FSC on cigarette packs, these new fire safe cigarettes chemicals to your traditional cigarette is supposed to serve a purpose. The reason for the new chemical in cigarettes being that it should reduce the amounts of fires started by traditional cigarettes. The new "fire safe" cigarette will self extinguish if it has not be used for 30 to 35 seconds.
On the upside, this is supposed to reduce the amount of fires that are caused by unattended cigarettes.
The fire safe cigarette chemical, ethylene vinyl acetate has been added to all cigarettes in packs that have the FSC lettering on the side or bottom of the pack. Ethylene vinyl acetate is added in rings to the cigarette paper. When the smoker is not inhaling and the lit part of the cigarette gets to the chemical ring, it will self extinguish. The purpose being that it will reduce the amount of fires created by lit cigarettes that are left unattended.

Did you notice the difference in taste in your fire safe cigarette? Many people have. The new chemical added has been reported to create a coppery type taste in the mouth. Many claim that the new cigarettes that need to be constantly re-lit taste gross. Smokers nationwide have been signing a petition against the FSC cigarettes, a good percentage of which are making it very clear that the cigarettes taste awful. Other claims are that they are having to smoke harder to keep the cigarette lit. Another good portion of the people signing the petition say that they are getting sicker from these cigarettes.
So, these new cigarettes, are they safe for the body?
"The New York State Department of Health advised that cigarettes complying with the fire safety standards set forth in the regulation were not expected to significantly change the inherently high risks associated with cigarette smoking."

to the reports, "Significantly" is the key word. What is "significantly"
in the scheme of the massively large number of people that develop health
problems from cigarettes. Why is ANY chemical being added to cigarettes
that may pose ANY kind of threat to a persons health?
What Is The Alternative To FSC
While you can get your name on the petition, generally speaking you have only a few options.
- Stop smoking either cold turkey or with the support of smoking cessation devices such as gum, patches, etc.
- Illegally buy traditional cigarettes from other states that don't yet have the legislation in effect
- Use an electronic cigarette. This smoking alternative gives the smoker the nicotine they crave, but without the harmful chemicals, tar, and carcinogens in traditional cigarettes. It's also legal to use indoors and over time, cheaper then traditional cigarettes.

I am a smoker and personally I find myself smoking more and it is making me sick. EVA is either going to make alot of people really sick or make alot of people quit smoking. It's not even enjoyable and they taste like shit!!!!
I thought I lived in the USA....... But apperently I DON'T have any say so on what happens and that sucks......I pay my taxes. but now I'm looking at doing a class action suit for this is not right or just.

I completely agree. These cigarettes make me feel like absolute shit. Not only do you have to drag harder to keep them lit but I have been extremely congested and have had stomach problems (intestinal). I was getting Indiana cigarettes for a while (that didn't have the "FSC") and I can tell within having 3 "bad"ones the difference. If the initial feeling is so bad, what is the long term, I wonder. Is this gov't approved--FDA? How long did they test this before streaming it into our systems involuntarily? Now Indiana is selling the FSC's too...I can still get cigarettes cheaper in certain counties of Illinois, but they suck!
Were there really that many fires that you had to make our cigarettes "FSC"? You are making people all over America (and Canada) SICK! It really is an innocent vice, started with indians. Probably medicinal at one point, but now they have carcinogens, and all kids of shit in them, plus an extra thing--that is really putting it over the edge.
What few smokers are left are really going to be sick, I truly believe this. What will the good old USA do without the cigarette tax?
If it isn't bad enough that we are paying $7/pack, now the gov't is just killing us off slowly (or quickly?). How much money does the gov't make on cigarette taxes? A hell of a lot. And you know who is smoking? The blue collar, hard working citizens if America--who are out of jobs and can't even afford to buy a pack of cigarettes. We are the outlaws now. You can't even go to a tavern or bar and have a cigarette and beer at the same time. It's like prohibition--are they going to stop selling liquor next. Is this not America?
I can see having non smoking areas--everywhere, in every place. But to stop citizens from smoking outside, yet still sell cigarettes is crazy, rediculous. To have cigarette manufacurers sell cigarettes and put warnings on them that they cause cancer and other illnesses is responsible, but it's like the gov't saying "hey we don't like it , it makes people sick, but don't stop making them because we are raising taxes and we can't make it without your money".
It's like a double edged sword. The US gov't can not afford not to have the cigarette tax, but they can make every effort to publicly discourage it.
Isn't it funny (not really funny--but curious) how cigarette companies haven't gone bankrupt, as liquor companies haven't, yet great auto dealers & makers have.
Screwed up our whole economy. Funny too how all this started with the gas prices skyrocketing and putting small businesses out of commission like my parents'.
Did the gov't of the great USA step in and figure that out? No, we don't have an answer yet to why that happened. Now we have a "car czar" and a "bank czar".
Here's an idea--How about having a "National Oil and Gas Czar"? Like national money exchange and nuclear weapons, why don't we have someone regulating gas and oil prices and the effects that the production of them has on our ecosystem and the economy? Why is it still unexplained why we have these rises and falls in gas prices? Who is getting rich from this? Someone is. In America, do the gas companies not file tax returns? Don't we know who owns them and how their profits are made? Are they not being audited because the gov't is profiting from the income that they make?
Where are all of these people supposed to get work that are being put out of work? A responsible gov't would make a company get an approval before laying workers off. They should operate at a loss and get a gov't credit for keeping the citizens of the great USA employed, and their families insured.
I am pro America. I do believe in our country's Constitution and beliefs. At our local parade for 4th of July we all stood up and praised our soldiers and I was close to tears. They are America. And they come home to this ****. I have so many words for it. This started with Osama and Sadam, but someone let the oil/gas situation get out of control back at home. I have to wonder how these wonderful soldiers/nurses etc. functioned overseas wondering how their families were faring moneywise. Did they come home secure (if they made it home)? Did their families have homes and insurance, and do they have jobs to come home to to support their families?
I just spent $50 to take 4 kids and myself to a movie. It made me sick. I wanted to treat the kids and not be cheap for one day because I had a day off. I knew I only had $100 in my account and I litterally felt sick to my stomach.
This is what is wrong with America today. They are still spending millions to make movies. But laying off the people who need to pick up the garbage and put out the fires and police to keep the peace.
So, long story short, we, Americans, are getting screwed with the whole FSC situation and the taxes and our rights to smoke, not only in certain areas, but outside....
Not only are we being "screwed" by the gov't in taxes and the "modifications" that they have made to cigarettes, but the cigarette companies have raised their prices because they have to state anti-cigarette slogans on their packages and compensate for the loss of sales from that. How American is that?
And so many other things!!

I noticed that my cigarette kept going out, this was about a month ago....I didnt know about the new chem's in them, then I starting losing my voice and a friend was the one that told me about the chemical....so here I am a month later with still no voice and a constant dry sore throat.
Thank You FSC!! I have been trying to stop smoking for several months now. This FSC has cause me to lose my voice at times! Soooo, I have finally completely quit!! Thanks to the person (or company) that came up with this idea! I am now smoke free!!
This is an experimentation on humans! Did this Government forgot about the nuremberg codes? It's was obvious they have forgotten the Constitution otherwise they would have never had the nerve to tell private business owners what they could do with a legal substance on private property. Smoking cigarettes is not illegal. The city councils and the state legislators are not authorized to tell private landowners what they can do on their own property with a legal substance. Unless it is an illegal activity the police do not have the authority to tell private owners what they can do with their private businesses. Again cigarettes are not illegal.
Now they have gone way too far. What they are doing with this toxic fire paper is criminal. I have sent this paper off to be tested by several labs. The one chemical they admit is in this paper already qualifies it as VERY toxic. That is insane enough. It is inforgivable they would force cigarette companies to us this. Even worse for these companies to go along. They are nOT off the hook either. I have NO idea how organic cigarettes can have the nerve to still call themselves ORGANIC after using this toxic paper either.
I have smoked for over 25 years and I have NEVER had the ill effects I am NOW having after they added these toxic FSc paper mandates.There is a constant metallic taste in my mouth, sore throat, severe headaches, severe vision damage, constant cough and the list is growing. I will be seeing everyone involved in this nightmare in court.
I am also Indian and my people will know about this...they will know what you are doing to humans AGAIN. This government holds NO sanctity for human or animal life. NONE. Four months ago they switched to fsc paper in PA. I immediately had sore throats, nausea, intestinal troubles and headaches. During the transition time I noticed when I had a pack of fsc paper cigs I woke the next day with back pain, when I had reg cigs I didn't. What the heck is in this? Last month I had pneumonia. Did you know that the cig manufacturers were totally against this paper? Did you know the gov't did NOT require toxicity tests on it? No wonder Phillip Morris is in support of gov't taking over the regulation of cigs. They know what's coming and don't want to be the target of the next class action suit. Remember when the gov't sued the cig companies because of health problems in smokers? Research what was done with the money. It was divided among the states. This money that was to go to health care actually built statues, golf courses etc. Now that the gov't has had a "taste" of the money they are putting all our lives at immediate risk in order to gain it permanently. Once again our wonderful gov't has created a problem so that they could be the one to save us all from it, all the while lining their own pockets. How did the American Indians and Amish get so lucky to avoid our gov't yet we the people can't do a thing about it. I've smoked for 30 years and never had a health problem until this paper came along, now it's constant. Did you know they are now trying to do away with "organic" ? I suppose there is no money in it for them, to heck with our health. Be forewarned if we keep listening to our gov't they'll lead us to an early grave. Join or start a class action suit. Count me in. I find the wording in the reason for gov't regulation of cigs rather fishy. They wish to reduce the number of smokers. I would have preferred to hear that they wanted to reduce the number of people that smoked.
I am a smoker, which is bad enough for me without smoking vinyl. Here's a tip to all you smokers: I would say quit, but that would make me a hypocrite since I can't do the same! NEXT BEST OPTION: ROLL YOUR OWN! I buy organic or natural tobacco for about $30 per carton then I buy a box of 200 filtered cigarette tubes, which aren't required to be FSC, for about $3. This adds up to $3.30 per pack, and all you're getting is the good old tar and nicotine you crave! You can buy a machine that stuffs these non-FSC tubes with your natural additive free tobacco for as little as $7. This will save the average smoker more than $1000 per year and you won't be putting hundreds of different unknown carcinagens into your body just for that sweet sweet nicotine. It's really a no brainer. Hope this helps some of those out there like me who are just too stubborn to quit!

Ugh, as if it weren't bad enough.....
These FSC's started into circulation, here in AZ, about two months ago. The first thing I noticed, not knowing about FSC, was the sore throats and headaches. But then in a strange turn of events, my libido went into overdrive. Next was aches all over my body and excessive vomiting to the point that I have been heaving up nothing but saliva and bile. WTF, is this really nothing more than a stupid conspiracy? I'm not a theorist, but I have to agree with a few posts that I've read here and there... This really looks like nothing more than a way for the Gov't to throw a case on the manufacturers again. Question is WHAT CAN I DO? I like to smoke, it's one of the very few joys I have left in this world, I believe it's my rite as an American to smoke without the Government INTENTIONALLY trying to kill me.
Oh good. I thought it was just me. These self-extinguishing cigs are making me lose my voice, cough a lot, have a lump in my throat, and my taste buds are all messed up. I can't believe that chemical is being allowed. I give up. I'm gonna have to quit smoking. Maybe that's the plot?
I developed what I thought was a pneumonia a couple months back and went to the doctor who took a chest xray and said this is NOT normal. I then went to a pulmonoligist who recommended a bi lateral biopsy on my lungs (which I did)...When the results came in to my lung specialist he was so baffled that he had to send them to Mayo clinic!!!!! When the results came back from there my lung specialist explained to me in bananas and apples that is was not the smoke nor the niccotine in the cigarettes causing it but some chemical that was in the cigarettes that was highly toxic to me personally ... I have smoked for 25 years and never any problem.I think this plastic must be what left "millions" yes I said "MILLIONS" and they are in quotes too of scars in my lung tissue.I have to quit smoking now and then after 6 weeks he will put me on steroids to try and heal my lungs. PLEASE if you are couching really bad on cigarettes now STOP SMOKING and see a pulmonologist! the chemical or plastic they are using would have 100% destroyed my lungs had I not sought help. I would have died gasping in my sleep probably because there was almost NO healthy tissue in my lungs left (my oxygen lvl was 72% PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to a doctor if you are having a severe cough since FSC came out!!!!!
I noticed my cigarettes tasted strange and were burning odd. i figured it was a bad production run.also i had a tightness in my chest that i never would have linked to a change in smokes,until i heard about these new smokes at work. i estimate smoking these for 6 days about the same time my marlboro's started coming with coupon's in the pack.WHAT FREEDOM these things make a regular smoke safe if thats at all possible.
Here in Missouri...they are now selling the FSC cigarettes. I opened my first pack a few days ago. They do taste different, and everytime I turn around im looking for the fire that never fell on the floor. I guess thats the only good part. Unfortunatly We will either decide to quit and say thats ENOUGH, or continue to smoke and get sick! My husband has slowed down considerably because he does feel different when he smokes these new ciggs. I for one want to buy from another state!
This new chemical they r putting in the tradditional cigs. Have already killed one person farely young ya sure its stops fires but if u stop smoking the fires will be gone without taking in all these chemicals I 4 one do not smoke but my mother does and many of my loved ones this new chemical will just kill them and you faster stop smoking

I came online looking for answers. I live near the boarder of KY and TN. I was aware of the FSC that was required in KY, but now the TN cigs must have it because I am getting sick from them and don't even feel satisfied while smoking anymore. I also have a bump on my throat. This is bullshit.
Early this year, I started to notice that the cigarettes I was smoking were not staying lit. It perplexed me a bit but I didn't really look into the why.
A couple weeks after that, I started to have a strange feeling in my lower throat, like the typical lump-in-your-throat feeling you get from crying or yelling. I thought maybe it was just stress related but it continued on without relief.
At some point, a friend mentioned that they passed some law here in Minnesota to do something to cigarettes so they go out on their own. I wondered then if the throat issue was somehow related to this change but assumed that they wouldn't be passing legislation to add another chemical to cigarettes to make them even more harmful than they already are. Hmm...
So as an experiment, I switched to rolling my own cigarettes and the strange throat issue disappeared. I'm just now Googling this fire-safe cigarette to see exactly what that chemical is and if there has been issues with anyone else who smoke it and clearly, it is a problem.
What the hell?!!! Do they think that just because we smoke an already dangerous product, that one more toxic chemical won't hurt?! Give me a f**king break!
If this chemical is causing noticeable health issues in people in just a few weeks, imagine what long term effects they will discover? It might just be that in our governments attempt to save lives, they may have simply shifted the toll elsewhere.

I have smoked for 37 years, bad habit yes, would love to quit, just easier said then done. Since they came out with these fire safe cigarettes I have notice the different taste along with a burning censation in my throat and chest as if I had inhaled a cleaning solution and body aches as if I was down with the flu. I wake up coughing up stuff for about half hour then I am fine. The taste is horrible doesn't even taste like tobocco anymore. Yes we all know smoking is bad for us, but as Americans it is suppose to be our rights, not only has the government taxed cigarettes to an ungodly price (which I feel we are discrimated against, its like saying if you drive a car older than a 2000 model they are going to triple your tax cause it pollutes the air and harmful to others)but now they added more chemicals to the paper to make them slower burn and to go out. Here several years ago there was an issue with added chemical in the tobacco they banned them to use, now its alright to add to the paper. No we should not smoke but it should be our right whether we do or not and have a voice in what is added to them.
I am absolutely furious about the new FSC's. I cannot stand the taste and they make me very sick. I have had to switch brands so many times, just to avoid buying FSC's. Where does our government get off thinking that they can do just whatever they want to us? I thought this was a free country? I have a really bad feeling by the time Obama is done, the U.S. will be a communist country. I really hope that the FDA forces them to take this horrible chemical out of our cigarettes soon! It is our right to smoke, and our government should not have any authority to take that right away from us! If the FDA does nothing about this, than they are just as guilty as our lousy Gov't. I hope that when lawsuits start happening left and right, that something will be done about this. I, for one, will not quit smoking just to suit their sorry asses! Dave and I did two experiment on the FSC cigarette and it is total BS. in the first experiment the cigarette didn't even go out, it was at 45 degrees downward in the ashtray. In the second experiment, the cigarette was laying straight across in the ashtray and it took 7 minutes to go out. In that that time Dave and I could have been killed in our apartments.
Thought I'd try a pack after about twenty years off the wagon. I thought it was just me. I didn't remember cigs ever tasting this aweful. Looks like I'm just in time for the grim reaper. I'm trying my own cig tubes and tobacco loading machine. No burn in the throat. I'll quit again before I buy another FSC pack with flame retardent built in. The chemical is Ethylene vinyl acetate. They make glue sticks out of it, and foam rubber. According the the Material Safety Data Sheets, it's very bad for you if inhaled. It's easy to find the info online. What are these people thinking? Its not like that chemical is some big mystery. You don't have to even do any big studies to realize its affects. You're glueing your lungs shut. This will be a boom economy for the mortuaries. I can't even finish one, its like instant asthma in a box. The pot smokers better hope it doesn't go legal. The government will be hot on that one next. 1st will tax 'em then will kill 'em!

They went on to state that "The available data were too limited to form the basis for an evaluation of the carcinogenicity of vinyl acetate to humans." BECAUSE NO HUMANS WERE TESTED!!! However the above results were from the animals (lab rats) that were tested.
Now, I am not at all in favor of using poor defenseless animals for cruel tests in labs. But moreso, I AM NOT FOR USING HUMANS TO TEST THE UNTESTED EITHER! Just because we are smokers, they (the gov't) feel we don't have rights?! Are they crazy? Don't they see what kind of trouble they are opening for themselves?

We all basically knew the risks when we started smoking, most of us, many years ago. Those risks DID NOT include the toxic effects of Vinyl Acetate. Besides, cigarettes now taste like filth...not 'good, like a cigarette should'.

But the truth is that tobacco was one of the founding principles of this country, and as much of a right as freedom of worship. In fact it was so very common that the founding fathers didn't think it was at all necessary to even mention as a right.

So what we as smokers must do is start our own grass roots campaign. Sue these people that feel it's ok to poison us! Sign a petition, know what to say to anti-smokers, stop buying FSC cigarettes and roll your own, or buy from a state that doesn't have the law. It MUST be stopped! THEY ARE POISONING US!

Having been a smoker for 60* years and enjoying a good cigarette was pure pleasure. I have been having the same synptoms as a lot of others since the last of June. I had scheduled an appointment with my GP and was examined this morning. He prescribed an antibiotic for me. After the examination I brought up the subject of the additive to the paper and was basicly poo pooed and of course had to endure my usual lecture about the side effects of smoking. This article scared the H _ _ _ out of me and I decided as of then I was a non smoker. Everyone wish me luck.
I have a book that says the chemical they are using in FSC's is for all intents and purposes ASBESTOS, it is nearly chemically identical and it also states that it's not you MIGHT get cancer, you WILL get cancer. 100% chance of Mesothelioma, same as with Asbestos.
My husband and I are both smokers and noticed a difference in our health. After discovering the chemical used, we both started rolling our own. It's cheaper and actually, we are enjoying it more!

I have noticed that the ciggaretts are causing increased flem and coughing that i never had before from regular smoking. Not only that i find that the ring on the cigs causes the cherry to fall of my cigs burning me or the chair or whatever im sitting on i even had an instant where i was in the car and it fell off in the car causing me to freak out and think i was going to burn up something and i was in the middle of traffic which could have caused an accident and to me this makes there care for wanting to cease fires redundant. I mean if we are paying for the cigs i think we should have had a say in what we wanted, for it not just be dropped on us from no where. I think if they want this so badly that there should be the option to buy FSC or NON FSC cigs i mean its our money and the government gets there money regardless... It is not making much sense to me that they have done this, and if it upsets enough people to quit smoking how will the government get there precious money then????

Yes these new cigarettes with fsc are horrifying. I was lucky yesterday to go to a store and find 2 cartons that were "left over" without fsc... There DEFINITELY is a difference!! The fsc ones were making me feel quite ill, and taste is very awful, yuk, and stomach cramps, headaches, and rasping of voice, cough. What a difference!! I thought we lived in a free country where we had the right to choose??? Liberty and Justice for all??? What has happened to our country and our freedom, in which we do not have a choice to elect fsc, or non fsc??? What about alcoholic beverages?? I live in Louisiana. Ive been smoking camel cigarettes for 10 years. Around december camel changed packaging as well as the taste of the cigarettes. I noticed alot of these same symptoms. strange taste and what not. I switched to marlboros soon after. Recently Ive noticed these were making me sick as well. My 72 year old grandfather smoked his whole life and I use to brag about how cigarettes werent as harmful as people were saying because of his health. since december his health took a nose dive and we buried him 9/11/09.

I've been smoking for 8 years now. When they added these chemicals to my cigs, I started getting all these symptoms. Spitting out blood, chest pain, migraine headaches. When i went to the doc. she immediately thought it was the Swine Flu, turned out to be a sinus infection. Here I am about a month later sitting at home with the same goddamn symptoms again. Sinus infection my ass. Its FSC syndrome.

I just smoked my first pack of fsc cigarettes a couple of weeks ago, and boy do they taste different. Now we find out that they are adding another deadly chemicals. If they want fire safe cigarettes why don't they add a little damp pot to the cigarettes. They still would go out, taste a heck of a lot better, and wouldn't be as bad for us a another chemical would be. Well if we all get sick from these because of the added chemical, at least we can sue the government, and get some of our part of the money back that we tax payers have given the banks. Is anyone else starting to feel like we live in a communist country? i know I sure feel that way.

I live near Cleveland, my wife and I were just driving home when i mentioned that my cigarettes seemed to be going out all the time, she looked at me and said" Then I am not crazy because I noticed it too" We both smoke, I know bad habit. I havent heard of these FSC cigarettes before today 10-24-09. But now that i have been reading up on this, it may explain why I dont sleep for more than 4 hours at a time without waking up coughing to death. Now I have smoked for 20 yrs. and have never had this issue, maybe just smoking for that long has something to do with it, but it seems kind of odd. I also have severe leg pains as well as headaches very often, but these symtoms have also only appeared in the last six months or so. Seems kind of fishy to me, would like more info.

We live in Upper Michigan, and have begun to feel the effects of the FSC cigarettes. I have a raspy voice and a lump in my throat. My husband on the other hand has began to have bloody noses along with pain in his nasal cavity. Also he has been vomiting and has severe eye irritation. I am 24 yrs old and in Ohio we just started to sell the FSC cigs. I haven' had this confirmed yet but will be going to the doc here shortly. Days after I first started smoking these new cigs I began getting extrememly bad headaches. Days after I found myself in ICU in extreme anaphylactic shock intubated for five days. Not a Doctor nor specialist could figure out why. Approx. a week later it happened again this time causing me to have a heart attack! I'm 24 yrs old! A friend of mine brought up the fact of the new chems in my cigs never did I think about it but that is the only thing that has changed in my life. I was a very healthy young woman now..... Since all this we've notice that my boyfriend has also been having health problems all linking back to when Ohio began selling these stupid DANGEROUS FSC. I personaly am disgusted that they could do this to us. We are all adults and have the right to choose to smoke or not they do not have the right to force companies to add harmful chemicals to their products and unexpecting Americans!!! I went from being healthy to 15 days in ICU and now having to take medications on a daily basis which I have never had to do in my entire life!

I am a struggling smoker as I try to quit but its my relaxation and stress fix...after the death of my son it was smoke or take drugs...I chose to smoke...I recently started feeling sick..I couldnt understand but this is oct/nov weather changes up here in Michigan and its cold and flu season etc. But wait a minute .... my cig wont stay lit...its giving me this nasty taste in my mouth...my voice is sounding really raspy yet I havent had a cold that normally would do that...then I have been fighting headaches...I never get headaches and my breathing is really heavy...now this stuff has happened over night! My throat is burning and my tongue is actually swollen...NOTHING is tasting good but no I dont have a cold what is happening here? Then I get a call from a friend that tells me about this FSC...what the heck is that? I looked it up and OH MY GOSH ... it sounds funny to say this I know it probably looks funny to read but the Government is trying to kill us literally! I went out tonight and said ok..there is one gas station here that hasnt started giving out the new Salem Gold Box 100's they are still at this particular gas station the Salem light 100's so I bought a pack after I looked for the FSC and it wasnt there...12 hours since I havent smoked the FSC cigs and smoke the normal ones without FSC things still feel odd but have let up alot..I feel better the raspy voice is coming back and my tongue is going down and my fruit juice is starting to taste like fruit juice! FSC cigarettes? What a joke! I am a retired firefighter with 13 years experience. These cigarettes are to prevent fires from starting from being left unattended or discarded irresponsibly. There are many more fires started from bad wiring, so maybe we should shut off everyone's electricity to prevent fires! Unattended cooking cause many fires, so maybe we should outlaw all cooking appliances to prevent fires!

I live in Ohio and have been smoking the FSC cigs for about a month now. I have chronic throat pain, like strep throat, and my ears feel infected but they aren't. I have this weird sound like plucking stretched rubberbands in my ears as well. My chest feels like it has a rock in it. I didn't smoke for about a week because I had a cold...I began to feel better! My throat did not hurt anymore. Once I was over my cold, I lit up again and now my throat and ears are worse than ever. If I can get my doctor to prove it is because of this chemical...I AM SUING! I will not have any trouble quitting now because they make me so sick when I smoke them that I just don't want them anymore. We have to stand together on this one. Google ethylene vinyl acetate. You will quit then. The gov has won here for me. They will no longer get my tax money for cigs.

I have had colds back to back for 2 months now. I just recently started getting headaches & I felt nauseous all day long. Some days I would vomit and become really itchy. WHAT THE FUNK?!?!?!! People are already begining to feel sick. How are they going to feel a month from now? How about a year from now. We don't know and thats for sure. Do they even know? How long have they even tested this new chemical? How long does that chemical stay in your body for? Would you like to know what symptoms EVA includes but "is not limited to"? how about nausea, Sores in mouth and throat, Dry throat, constant headaches, extreme coughing, tightness in the chest, vomiting, body aches, pain in the abdomen and respiratory conditions including asthma and bronchitis. Now does it sounds like the government is trying to help us be a healthier nation, or are they trying to kill us?

I just found out that the fire safe cigarettes where giving masive headaches and breathimg issues. I stoped smoking my marlboros and started to roll my own and im no longer felling sick at all all my symptomes begain to fade and with in a few days my headaches were gone and it wasent hard to breath any more and the coughing was gone in just over a week.

I would like to know how many forrest fires were actually started by cigarettes vs teenagers with gasoline and a lighter or just unsafe firepits. Did the government print any statistics on how many fires over in the United States were started by just one cigarette and how many were started from another form? I know R.J. Reynolds did not want to put EVA in their cigarettes because I received an email to contact my state rep. It makes me uncomfortable to know we have a congress who cares so deeply on passing health reform that covers abortion and now states under the umbrella of "caring for America and expect change" we need to added polymer to cigarettes to kill more people without giving you all the facts. Sounds like repeated socialist history to me.
If you currently smoke and haven't tried an electronic cigarette you have no idea what you are unnecessarily doing to yourself. 1.5 packs a day for 24 years and switched to e-cig as easy as switching brands. I feel amazing, can breath better, don't stink even to the most hardcore non-smoker, don't worry about butts, ashes or fire danger. Get thumb my nose at the tobacco companies. Smoke the equivalent of 1.5 packs a day for about $10 a week. And get everything I ever did from smoking but like it more. If you buy the FDA crap that they are as harmful as cigarettes then do the homework! Look up the Electronic Cigarette Association and view the video by a former congressman, look up the e-cigarette-forum and see what people are saying, DON'T buy a piece of junk at some mall that's giving them a bad name by potentially marketing to the teens that frequent malls. Don't spend $100. Best one on market in my opinion is the Joye 510 and can be had for around $40 including shipping. Listen to what I've said and you'll be thanking this post for saving your life and your wallet. Till our government bans them in order to protect the tobacco companies and pharmaceutical giants that is!
This is straight up bullcrap. How can you add something else to our cigs without even telling us. sepcially when its a rubber, foam substance. It makes my cig taste like shit,and keep going out. Also it makes me sick! I have ben gettin headaches every single day becuase of them.
So now im smoking the genric cigs that dont have the EVA in them yet. They need to take that shit back out of our cigs. Genric cigs suck! But I guess its better than smokin rubber/foam & Havin headaches everyday....

Not being a smoker, I would not know the difference, but of course it would make sense that the gvt would impose more regulations. We just don't have enough of those. No the gvt is not against tobacco, if it were it could not tax it, it would ban it. But wait that is coming!
As I said I am not a smoker but I defend the right all smokers have to pollute their body anyway they want. I am fed up with all the regulations that are beings added to our lives that should not.
