Firefox 3 Keeps Crashing Every Few Minutes

I have been using the Mozilla Firefox web browser for years now, but I have never had any problems until now. This time when Firefox 3 was released I had very high expectations, so I waited and waited.

And then finally, I downloaded it as soon as it was available. Well, I was waiting for the final release and not the beta one. So, here I'm discussing about the final version 3 Mozilla Firefox web browser. I was so impatient to try out the new Firefox. It did not have a complete transformation though. The changes were mainly aimed at the features. Well, for the first few fours the new Firefox 3 web browser was absolutely cool and fully functional. But after those few hours I found that Firefox 3 kept crashing every few minutes.

I did a lot of research and I practically tried most of the solutions that were virtually possible. But it was all useless. (If you readers have any ideas, please tell me what you all think I can do. I'll try those ideas too. You can do this in the comments section at the bottom of this page.) At first, when I was doing the research on this issue, I found out that many people were having problems with the new Firefox 3 web browser. All, the solutions I found through the google searches were all put up by people who had problems with Firefox 3. There were many ideas and I slowly started trying out one idea after the other. It must have worked for them but for me it did not.

If you want to see those solutions, it is very easy to find them, by doing a google search of, "Firefox 3 crashes". There was a paragraph about the yahoo messenger Plug-in causing this problem. But then, I did not have yahoo messenger installed on my computer, so, I skipped it. I also saw something about the VLC media player plug-in. I had the VLC media player installed on my computer, so I tried out the given solution. I uninstalled VLC media player completely, but the problem still persisted. They had even mentioned a problem related to the windows firewall.

They said that sometimes the Mozilla Firefox 3 web browser would crash if you had the windows firewall disabled. Well, if any of you has another third party firewall, the windows firewall is automatically disabled by that Anti-virus. I had Norton Internet Security 2007 installed on my machine. (I don't use Norton Internet Security 2008 installed as it drastically affects the computers performance. To know more, click "here".) And Norton Internet Security 2007 automatically disabled the windows firewall and it activated its own firewall. So, what I did was; I disabled the Norton firewall and activated the windows firewall. Then I tried using Firefox 3, but it still kept crashing every few minutes. That was of no use either. Then they had also mentioned a "window compatibility mode" issue. They said that in windows XP changing the window compatibility mode to "windows 2000" would do the trick. But that too did not work.

If you want to try that out, all you have to do is right-click on the Firefox icon on your desktop and go to properties. Then you have to go to compatibility and change it to "windows 2000". The strange thing is that I did not have any other third party software installed on my computer when this happened. I only had Norton Internet Security 2007 and VLC media player installed on my system. I even had completely removed VLC media player with no luck. If any of you have any problems like this one or any solutions to this problem here, please post it in the comments section below. I think this browser is great and I want to find a solution to this problem.
