Whether we accept it or not, every one of us would want firm body fitness. We want to tone down our muscles. We want to lessen our body fat content. We want that body that will not make us feel tired after walking twenty five flights of stairs. It’s not vanity but rather, what we want is a healthy and fit body.

What are the advantages of a fit body?

1.       First of all, having this will be a big help in the stress relief department. This can be achieved by pairing up fitness workouts with relaxation workouts, such as massage, therapy, etc.

2.       Secondly, being fit helps in increasing weight loss. By being fit, through healthy eating and fluid intake, our blood circulates much much better because hunger spasms and intake of fluids, decrease and increase respectively.

3.       Thirdly, we are assured that having a healthy body will help us face more physical hardships that we wouldn’t be able to face without a body in top form.

4.       Fourthly, a fit and sound body will decrease energy usage. This means that we can do more with the same amount of energy. It is like changing your car’s gasoline to a better formulated gasoline. More for less.

5.       Of course, we cannot forget the mental effects, such as increase in confidence. In line with the increase in confidence, our self-esteem will also go up. This changes, in a positive way, how we look at things and events in our lives.

6.       Doing work outs will surely decrease body fat.  This will be a great help in every day events as you will be more able-bodied.

Now, (figuratively), look me in the eye and tell me you don’t want these advantages in your arsenal? These are just some of the benefits and advantages of having a healthier and fitter body.

  • Give Me a Real Meal, Or Give Me…

In this blog, I usually try to dispense some vaguely helpful piece of advice based on a lesson learned from a borderline disastrous, self-inflicted episode from my life. Today, however I’m fighting back. Or, rather, I guess I’m just venting. See, for some time, one of the greatest incentives for me for completing grueling workouts has been the meal afterward. My life of extremes is far from an anarchical miscellany of unpredictable... - 4 years ago

  • Performance Anxiety - Is It Really a Syndrome?

Working in the health industry, I find myself reading frequently about an assortment of diseases. Thanks to my neurotic tendencies, I have achieved an all too great aptitude at convincing myself that I actually have more than a few unpalatable conditions. At times, my faux self-diagnoses have been borderline ridiculous. Thank goodness for the far greater sensibility of the rowers of my former high school team who, on many an occasion, found... - 4 years ago

  • Gym Class, the Tooth Fairy, and the Benefits of Accountability

The requisite weekly hazing incident aside, I miss high school gym class. Heck, for that matter, I miss grade school recess. Not unlike my relationship with the tooth fairy back in the day, I knew that gym class or recess was going to be terrifying and painful once in a while, but there were always good parts, too. For most of us, it has been a while since anyone ordered us to run around on a field kicking a soccer ball for forty-five... - 4 years ago

  • The Many Powers of Preparation

In the world of fitness, peer pressure can be a very effective and positive force. It typically presents itself in the form of a friend or family member using all means short of violence to persuade you to trade your favorite house slippers for running shoes or your seat on the couch for one on the bike. Usually, your ornery resistance to your friend’s nagging gives way to gratitude after you have finished the workout: almost invariably, you... - 4 years ago
