what is Freedom?

Freedom is a fundamental urge of man. From the very dawn of human history it has expressed itself in myriads of ways. The joy of life can be experienced when one is free to express himself.An artist can never feel the joy of creation,when he works under compulsion.

Compulsions are two fold-outer and inner. Outer compulsions arises from circumstances or the surroundings or when the material environment is unfavourable due to lack of financial resources or physical disability. Similarly when our relationships with those around us impose restrictions on us,we feel hemmed in. There are mental compulsions too which arises out of inferiority.

Man is always battling against outer compulsions.These struggles for freedom take place at various level of existance,individual and collective.Man feels that if only he could break down external compulsions he would know freedom and will be fit to tread the spiritual path

But it is well-nigh impossible for man to break down all the outer restrictions. He may break down some of them but numerous others will arise.

Man's inner compulsions are factors constituting the future which his mind has built out of the matters gathered in the past

We should not make our mind conditioned because conditioned or externally influenced mind is never a free mind. But due to bondage we cant avoid it.
