My Pastiche of Robert Creeley's "Naughty Boy"

When he brings home a wish

she shouts and says, that’s not for real.

And if he made the Franklin swim team,

she would say, that’s fine but too dear.

Where is this pool, for that matter? Am

I going (she says) to have to be driving

You? She says,

if you had made the baseball team that

would be one thing, you wet

loner, you. Then turns her face

from his, and waits

to see that aquatic crocodile submarine Dad

missed the talk
