Five Children Are We
56My Mom and Dad had five children, three boys and two girls. What's written below is my view and opinion of our qirks and personalities. And if you don't happen to notice, I am fondest of one brother, child number three, and child number four is me.
Child Number One
Child number one
the first born you see
a daughter, a premie
so perfect was she
flaming red hair and
big coal black eyes
her first breath was a struggle
and fight hard she did
and she never let's the
rest of us forget
that she is the oldest
and most wise kid
Child Number Two
Child number two
a big, healthy boy
this second birth brought
tears, love and joy
his weight at birth
gave mom quite a test
keeping this child in line
gave his parents no rest
I've heard some women say
he has big bedroom eyes
but whatever the reason
he's still quite a prize
Child Number Three
Child number three
another baby boy
only 5 lbs. 7 ozs.
and tow headed was he
He's quite the achiever
but never seems satisfied
he always wants more
but if you look deeper
just maybe you'll find
he can be funny, warm hearted and kind
He's clever and quick witted
quite something to behold
but worth more to me
than silver or gold
to me he is priceless
this child number three
Child Number Four
Child number four
another daughter is born
years after Mom thought
she would have no more
brown hair and brown eyes
a few freckles to boot
how could she be
anything but cute
Little indian princess
was her nickname from Dad
hair worn braided
hanging long down her back
mischievious and naughty
oh, she had a knack
at times her imagination
seemed all that she had
Was she switched at birth
a changeling? could be
child number four
you must see
is Me!
Child Number Five
Child number five
a baby boy born
the last to be sure
for Mom found the cure
the youngest and spoiled
he could do no wrong
tall, handsome and strong
he wasn't single for long
He loves the outdoors
hunting and fishing, he breathes
his daughter, my niece
is just like him you see
He's got talent galore
he can build anything
he can draw, he can paint
good at any kind of art
but I'm sure that one of these days
he'll just be an honery, old fart.

Maven: yep, i do agree that we are a remarkable group of children, but this is my view of myself and my brothers and sister. i guess it's kind of confusing, i'll have to work on an intro that explains.
From your hubs, I could see a poet in you. Someone who could convert the thoughts into a song. You should definitely nourish this strength.
emdi - thanks for the encouragement. I would love to be able to write better poems. Right now, my poems come mainly from emotions or from a phrase or two that just pops into my head and I take it from there.
