Introduction To Feng Shui Elements

Feng shui is a very practical although almost magical concept that blends the five elements of your world into a harmonious playground for optimal chi energy production and incubation. When you utilise the principals of chi through a variety of different concepts like furniture placement, architectural design, even use of space, polarities, and color schemes, you can trigger an amazing flood of harmony in your home, office, or anywhere else you spend your time.

Feng Shui: Bringing Harmony And Well-being Into All Facets Of Life

Feng shui is about controlling your environment and bringing harmony and well-being at every level by controlling your environmental resources in such a way that you give the mind, body, and spirit an unhindered place to produce expression. When you want to clear your head and incubate creativity you may sit in front of the ocean or on top of a hill overlooking the gorgeous lights of the city at night. This is an example of controlling where you are so your environment helps you to capture that state of mind you need to be in to think creatively or to just relax.

Feng shui works on a similar principal, only instead of you moving to the environment, feng shui helps you to convert your environment so it will become that place right there in your home, office, or where ever you need to be.

What are the five elements of feng shui?

Let's journey through those right now. The Five Elements Of Feng Shui are: Wood, Fire, Metal, Earth, and Water. With these five elements you can produce incredible harmony just by arranging them correctly and placing them adjacent to one another in the right way as well. Of course I'm oversimplifying it but the art of feng shui is really not all that hard to learn at the basic levels. Once you understand the elements and how they work together it will be easier to wrap your head around the concepts. Essentially the five elements carry different vibrations, and different energies that it radiates to everything in it's proximity. Different elements can affect each other as well generating a synergistic sort of energy that can be used to harmonize a room or bring clarity for example.

The idea behind feng shui is utilizing the energies in these five elements in a way that produces balance and harmony in your environment which ultimately affects you personally. Think of this in an example metaphor of a swimming pool. In the winter if you jump into a cold pool you will quickly find that this doesn not harmonize with your body and you will probably quickly remove yourself from the water as quickly as you got in. Now if that pool were heated then you would get in and swim around not even thinking about how cold it is outside as your immediate environment is harmonized.

Learning To Use The Five Elements Of Feng Shui is essentially like the heated pool, you convert the "cold" and "disharmonious" pool water into "warm" and inviting, thus allowing you to relax, swim, and think clearly. In the cold water you will be too focused on your discomfort to think straight. Doing this with your environment takes a bit more work than simply temperature control, but I think you get the picture. Using the five elements of feng shui you can bring the "temperature" metaphorically speaking, of your environment into a nice warm glow, which incubates creativity, clear thinking, well being, and more. The energies in the different elements are affected not only by their proximity and amount, but why where they are placed, and what is placed around them.

It is a fine art form that has been learned through thousands of years of trial and error, monitoring, and careful duplication. Today we can take for granted the power of feng shui because others have done the hard work of figuring it out. You can pick up a book or watch a video, or even hire a feng shui expert to come in and help you to tune your space up. There is more to it than just adding things and subtracting things in the environment as your very thoughts, and movements also contribute their own energy which empowers or diminishes the flow created by the feng shui improved environment.

In conclusion, if you truly want to gain more control over your feelings, your mind, and your life, feng shui is one of the most powerful ways to get started and to continue to thrive. Your environment is vital in your quest towards peace and harmony, don't take it for granted!
