Five More Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas
72
For those of you who have extended lists of people to buy for, I’ve compiled a whole new list of inexpensive Christmas gift ideas.
Take your pick for those you want to gift:
1. Bag ‘O Gift Certificates and Coupons. Maybe you have somebody on your list that just loves a special deal, and you are, like me, somebody who often doesn’t use the gift cards or certificates or even the special coupon deals you accumulate. Why not re-gift these items with somebody who loves them and enjoys using them to shop?
You can add a couple more gift cards geared specifically toward them, for just a little more cash, put the whole thing in a gift bag with a bow, and Voila! An instant, tailored, and very cool gift anyone would be happy to receive.
2. Magazine Subscription Two-Fer. Many magazines offer a discounted rate at this time of year, so that you are able to sign yourself, plus a person of your choice up for a magazine subscription. This is especially great for a friend with whom you share a special interest, such as a fellow writer—perhaps interested in Poets & Writers. Or somebody interested in finance—maybe a subscription to Money magazine would be in order.
3. Wallet for a Man. Always a classy gift, and always inexpensive, too, as fine grain leather wallets can be had at many drugstores and department stores/discount stores for $7 or less.
The nice thing about this idea is that guys are always wearing out wallets—the need is usually there. Unlike women with thirty purses, they often have only one wallet they use day in and day out, and they wear out fast! If not immediately, they can use your gift in a month or two, certainly.
4. Duvet Cover. This would perhaps be good for a family member who has a cherished quilt made by Grandma or Sis and wants to use it, but keep it fresh, too. A duvet can also be used in refreshing the décor of any bedroom. At $20-$60, it is an inexpensive and thoughtful gift for somebody on your list.
You may want to throw in a couple decorative pillows, and you have a total bed makeover.
5. A Gift of Stocks. They say now, when things look bleakest, and stock prices are lowest, is the time to buy. Why not take advantage of the stock market dip to shine a bright light into the future for some deserving person on your list? You can probably afford it this year, and there have got to be some bargains out there!

Dineane- I agree! Actually, that was going on the list, but I remembered I read somebody else's hub--think it was Shirley Anderson's--and she already took socks!
Well! Maybe I'll do one on 'essential Christmas gifts' or something--I've been getting some good traffic off these gift hubs, so that's a reason for another hub. Thanks for reading!
Great hub I really like it. I love all the Christmas hubs going around.
Thanks, Sonja, :). Yeah, I'm planning to write some more. They are really the best for business, too, I've found, ;).
Good ideas. I like the duvet the best, I have a few myself and they are great for keepng feather comforters fresh.
As for socks-- also a good idea . I just read AE Evens' OXymoron hub that mentioned Christmas as a holiday when people gather around a dead tree to eat candy out of their socks. Which also inspires another great Christmas gift idea::: Socks filled with candy!!
I am so cheap that I am happy with just art supplies or beads. I also love magazine subscriptions, which are great to get in on for the twofer.
Hi, Rochelle- lol I can't remember what Hubber it was that told me to include socks in a hub last year...maybe Amanda? So here it is. Thanks!
Hi, SP! Magazine subscriptions ARE good... And I always let those lapse, too--very busy. Nice to see you.
Heh, I'm not so sure I'd do number 5 anytime soon. It could be the monetary equivalent of giving someone a dog for Christmas that turns out not to like them.
One thing you can do with little kids is take them out for a day after Christmas to hit all the post-Christmas sales. I used to do that with my sister and she always used to look forward to it.
LDT - Why is the discussion of socks sooo popular on this hub, ? lol. And actually, my bf would appreciate it...he doesn't buy stuff like that for himself, so it is like you understand how he is and what he needs. Expensive or what have you sometimes is over rated, ;).
And hey...as a bargain hunter and veteran shopper, I live by sales!
You know my favorite places these days are Marshalls and Ross for sales shopping. I find some very cute skirts and shirts there for quite reduced prices. Of course it requires a lot of digging, and my family thinks I am crazy. I even found some great Turkish olive oil on sale at Marshalls the other day, and I was happy to find that!
Hi, SP... I have found some of my most treasured things at those kind of discount stores. I wore my pair of black Steve Madden designer boots for 7 YEARS that I bought for $25. And I like digging and finding that ultimate one of a kind bargain, :). You know you are a real shopper when you enjoy stuff like this. lol

I must be getting sleepy...I saw number 5 and thought you said "socks", and I was about to enthusiastically agree :-) I guess stocks would be nice too, but socks are one of those things that I never buy until I have to, and I think it would be great to get some cool socks for Christmas!
