yummy yummy yummy

Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook Feasting with your slow cooker by Dawn J. Ranck and Phyllis Pellman Good have some very tasty recipes that are worth trying out even if some of them sound kind of disgusting.  I was unsure of these two but my curiosity got the best of me and I have cooked both recipes.  My husband agrees, weird yet very tasty.  So here are the two recipes we enjoy and hope that your curiosity gets the best of you and you try it for yourselves.

Pepsi Pot Roast

Makes 6-8 servings

·        3-4 lb. pot roast

·        1 10 ¾ oz.  can of cream of mushroom

·        1 envelope dry onion soup mix

·        16-oz. bottle of Pepsi or other cola

1.     Place the meat into your slow cooker

2.     Top with the cream of mushroom soup and onion mix

3.     Pour in the Pepsi

4.     Cover and cook on High for 6 hours

Cola Roast

Makes 8-10 servings

·        3-lb. beef roast

·        1 envelope dry onion soup mix

·        2 cans of cola

1.     Place the roast in the slow cooker. Sprinkle with the soup

2.     Pour soda over all contents in cooker

3.     Cover and cook on Low 7-8 hours

Note: Diet cola does not work well with this recipe.

I do hope that you decide to try these two recipes.  Be sure that you plan early so that either recipe will be down by dinner time and you aren’t waiting for them to finish while the family is groaning with grumbling hungry stomachs.  And be prepared for your house, apartment, condo, wherever you live to smell DELICIOUS.

If you like tater tots then here is a recipe for you.  It is another favorite of my husbands and mine.

Tater Tot Casserole

Makes 6-8 servings

·        32-oz bag frozen tater tots

·        1 lb. ground beef, browned

·        ½ tsp. salt

·        ¼ tsp. pepper

·        2 14 ½-oz cans green beans, drained

·        1 10 ¾ oz. can of cream of mushroom soup

·        1 Tbsp. dried onions

·        ¼ cup milk

1.     Line the slow cooker with the frozen tater tots

2.     Combine remaining ingredients. Pour over potatoes

3.     Cover. Cook on high for 3 hours

Note: you can also sprinkle your individual servings with your favorite cheese grated.

These three recipes are yummy, plus you can just throw it in your cooker and leave them while you clean or do other things.  Enjoy all three!

thanks for the great recipes. I make a sweet Dutch Oven peach cobler with Sprite and I did it once with Coke and it was pretty good if I may say so myself. I look forward to trying your Coke Roast. I will not try Pepsi, sorry, can't stand the stuff. Maybe I will make that one with Coke also. Thanks for the Hub

I've had roasts made with cola -- it gives it a wonderful glaze. In ways it is similar to cooking with whiskey, as the carbonation helps to tenderize the meat.
