My Computer Runs Slowly

When a computer is new it runs beautifully. Surfing from one website to another is fast. The machine is a delight to use.

After some time you notice that the computer has slowed down noticeably. It takes a lot longer to surf the internet and hangs up continually. It even freezes completely here and there and you have to reboot to get going again.

What is wrong? Why is your former fast machine now a shadow of itself and really aggravating to work with?

There can be a wide variety of causes for slow balky running. It may be as simple as having your hard drive completely full with no room left for anything more. The computer needs some hard drive space free to operate well. If this is your problem you need to go through everything you have downloaded to your hard drive and uninstall anything you are not using. Most people can find a lot of unecessary material and can free up a lot of hard drive space this way.Just click on start then all programs and go through the list with an eagle eye.If you have not used something for months you might as well uninstall it.

Then you should delete all cookies and temporary internet files. This will free up more space. Then look at your email program. you may have hundreds of sent and/or deleted messages which you no longer need to keep there. Delete them completely and free up a lot more hard drive space.

Now run your defrag program and defragment the hard drive. If you have not done this for a while you may be amazed at how much space is freed up. You should defrag regularly at least every week or so if you use the computer quite a lot.

Just doing the above very simple things will free up enough hard drive space to make a big difference to how the computer runs.

SPYWARE ADWARE AND VIRUSES

Unfortunately there are a lot of idiots on the internet who have nothing better to do than to create problems for serious internet users. These empty heads spend a lot of time designing viruses and spyware to outwit whatever methods you may use to counteract them.

There are also commercial applications designed to place spyware and adware in the computers of unsuspecting owners without their permission. These unscrupulous individuals and businesses want to track your computer habits for their own profit.

You need to be continually on the lookout for spyware and adware and to clean them from your machine regularly. There are applications both free and paid available on the internet which can do this for you. Spybot and Adaware are two good free programs. They have limitations but will help you a lot if you really have a lot of spyware in your machine.

BLOATED REGISTRY

All windows operated computers have a registry. This is a database of information which the operating system uses to run the computer and programs. Every time you install or uninstall a program there tends to be fragments of data left in the registry. This over time uses up a huge amount of space and bloats the registry.

When the registry is choked with excess material like this the operating system has a hard time navigating through this mess to operate the computer. This slows down the computer noticeably and causes freezing or crashing occasionally.

To correct this problem all the excess data fragments must be removed from the registry. You can do this manually with Regedit which is installed on all Windows PCs for this purpose. However be forewarned that unless you know exactly what you are doing it is a very poor idea to try to clean the registry yourself. If you remove just one essential entry you may disable the computer completely. You would then have to reinstall the operating system and start from scratch. This would be disastrous for most people since everything on the computer would be lost.

The correct way to clean the registry is to use a registry cleaner program which can be downloaded from the internet. This will give you a free scan of your registry to determine whether or not you do have a registry problem. It will then,if you wish, clean the registry quickly and efficiently for a very reasonable fee. The registry cleaner I have found best after trying a number of them is REGISTRYEASY often called REGEASY. This is a great application which will do the job for you in a few minutes. Your computer will then run like new again. For complete information on using a registry repair application go to http://www.bestregistryrepaironline.com You can also get a free scan of your registry to find out whether or not you do have a registry problem.

Why Sould a Computer Run Slowly After A Time?

When you have used your Windows  PC for a few months, or even a year or more, you will   notice that it is not running as fast as it once did. Or that's how it seems to you anyway. You remember how thrilled you were with the fast smooth running  new machine when it was first set  up. Could you be looking  back through the proverbial rose colored spectacles? Was this computer really as fast as you remember it was? If it truly was, then why has it slowed down so much ?

As a matter of fact it is true that your PC has slowed down and is a lot more balky, than it used to be when it was newer. This is a known characteristic of all windows computers unfortunately.  Over a period of time they will gradually become slower running and will have freezing problems at times and sometimes a complete crash. You are definitely not viewing the past through rose colored spectacles. Your  computer  really was fast and ran smoothly without  freezing up.

Why should this be happening?  Why has this previously fast smooth  running computer slowed like this?. Why does it take so long to bootup or to shut down? Why is  it so aggravatingly slow to surf the internet and so slow and annoying as you wait for websites to load up?

The  quick answer to these queries is that many things may come into play.  Your hard drive may be running out of space due to too many downloads. You could also be running short of RAM memory.  Certainly if you have less than 1 gigabyte of RAM you should add some more. You may have a billion or so emails  in your deleted and sent mail folders. You may have trillions  of pictures and videos which consume a lot of hard drive space. But  probably the most likely  of all is something  which you have little control over -- you may have a bloated registry.

What is  a bloated registry ? All Windows PCs have a registry which is a massive database of files needed by the operating system to run the computer. This is really the heart  and mind of your windows PC which completely controls all it's operations. If the registry should become damaged or bloated, the performance of the machine will  be negatively affected. Over some time, as the computer is run, a lot of unwanted file fragments, orphaned drivers, useless shortcuts, spyware, adware and a lot more builds up in the registry. This of course results in  the registry  becoming choked up or bloated to the extent that the operating system is really slowed down in attempting to find the data it requires to run the computer. The obvious result is that the the PC slows down  quite noticeably.

The best and simplest way to fix this problem is to download a REGISTRY CLEANER from the internet. This registry repair tool will first scan the registry to find what errors there are. It can then edit out the unwanted material from the registry easily and safely in a very short time. We ran tests on a several of the most popular registry cleaner tools and we came to the conclusion that REGEASY was the best in every way. This is the registry cleaner we  have opted to use on our own computers. Our tests found that it located and then quickly removed up to 50% more errors than some of the other registery cleaners did. You can obtain a free scan from REGEASY to correct registry errors. See my website at Registry Repair Review for a lot more free information and resources.
