Storypods' Flamingo Mallet

Alice's Croquet Game

Alice's Day in Oxford was coming up - July 4th 2009 - and Storypods had been asked to participate. Our Storypods audiobook Alice in Wonderland & Nonsense Verse and Prose was going to be broadcast on BBC Radio and one of our actors would provide a storytelling session at the Museum of Oxford.

It was when we were making our plans for Alice's Day that the image of a flamingo croquet mallet popped up in my head. Storypods' own mallet would consist of a real wooden mallet with a wooden flamingo painted in vibrant shades of pink attached to its front.

Having seen other versions of the flamingo mallet, I thought this one would be an acceptable blend of Alice madness and fun with simple practicality. Most of all, the flamingo was to be cartoon like with a cheeky expression.

It appeared on Alice's Day at a local pub and is going on display at various venues and retailers in Oxford.

Being handmade, there is a fair amount of detailed work involved which means we can only produce it in limited quantities. As postage is quite costly, we are making the flamingo available on its own for those who might already own their own croquet mallets.

Exclusive to Storypods, this is a great item for Alice fans and collectors! The images above give a good idea of what the flamingo looks like. For further information, details of prices and how to order go to Storypods website.
