67Flash Games Intro
Hi all,
This is my first post to Hubpages on the subject of flash games. I have been in this industry for a very long time and run two sites at Flash Ninja Games and Java gaming . This Hub will be used to post, review, and comment about the best flash games found on the web. Since I host most flash games on my own server, I will use links from Flash ninja games as an example. I do develop flash games and the development process of those will be posted here as well but for the most part, this hub will be used to post the recently highly rated games on Newgrounds, Kongregate, and other large portals.
The first game I would like to examine is called Achilles , an action/platformer that pits you in the role of the lengendary Greek Hero Achilles. For those of you who are unfamaliar with greek history, Achilles is the almost invulnerable son of a water Nympth who died during the Trojan war because his mother forgot to make a spot on his heel invulnerable.
At first when I tried this game on flashgameliscense.com , it didn't seem too impressive, with only a basic slashing move and seeminly brainless enemies coming at you. Homever, playing it more and more, it became quite addictive in the old slash/hack game way. There was something about hacking greek soldier after greek soldier that made it appealing. Add to it that the animation was smooth and the game never lagged and it was a great gaming experience. This is honestly one of the few platformers I have played recently that played so well without any major glitches.
The 2nd game I have to mention is Bloons player pack 3 . Bloons is one of those games that you don't think will do that well, but becomes a tremendous success. Each successive game pack gets millions of plays and generates an insane amount of revenue for NinjaKiwi. After the initial engine, the add-on packs should not be that hard to make as they all run off the same engine. Yet this simple game of a monkey shooting at balloons with different special shots and effects often keeps me intrigued for hours on end(when I should be working). The game is so simple, you pick an angle and a power for the monkey to shoot the dart and pop as many balloons as possible. You must pop a certain percentage to go on to the next level. What makes this game so great is that the levels are ingeniously designed and feature many obstacles that are annoying but not overly hard to conquer. This is a game that is fun for a kid but also good for any adult to play in their spare lunch hour. It comes highly recommended, so give it a shot if you haven't already.
Those are the two games I will review for this piece. I will be writing more in the future(hopefully more to do with development), so be sure to check it out.
