Do you want to make a full time income working outside on the weekends? Starting a flea market business might be for you.

Most people have been to a flea market. These large, usually outdoor markets attract hundreds of vendors selling everything from old clothes to car parts, new electronics to rare antiques. To the shoppers, it looks like a bargain-hunter's dream. To the flea market vendors, however, it is a gold mine.

You can make a real income with your own flea market business. There are several things you need to know before you get started:

  1. Laws about resellers and sales tax
  2. Finding the right market for you
  3. Popular flea market products to sell

Once you get this information figured out, you are ready to start, and profit from, your own flea market business.

Flea Market Business Set Up

If you intend to sell used items at the flea market, you probably won't have to get a reseller license or a business license. Check your local township, municipality, and state laws. If you will resell new items you purchase from a wholesaler, you will need to charge sales tax if your state demands it. Search online for your state's rules and how to get the proper forms.

After you take care of the legal aspect to starting a flea market business, you have to find a flea market to sell at. Visit a flea market directory and pick one near to where you live. Before you try to sell there, visit it to make sure your merchandise would be a good fit.

Then, early Saturday morning, head out to the flea market, set up, and sell!
