Flirting Signs - It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.

When flirting, not only are we using body language, but the way we say things can have a huge impact on the way the other person perceives us.

A few years ago there was a study done at a University on communication and they came to the conclusion that when communicating we use,

• 10% words

• 20-30% the way you say it / or tone

• 60-70% body language

A great example showing the power of “how you say it” is,

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

Now I want you to go over the statement 7 times, and each time I want you to emphasise one word. For instance;

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

I didn’t say he… killed his wife.

Can you see that each time you say the same sentence but put an emphasis on a different word, it changes the whole meaning of the sentence and can be taken in many different ways. Now I know this isn’t the sort of thing you would be speaking about while flirting, I’m just trying to make a point. ;-)

As I mentioned above, the tone of your voice can be up to 30% of the way you communicate. So when flirting just be aware of the way you say things, as you can see from the example above, if you say something and someone takes it the wrong way, it can lead anywhere. So just be aware of the tone of your voice and the way you say things.
