Wow! That was the first words that I could think of when I finally say the destruction in Atlanta, due to floods. People that I know were not affected at all, so I had no idea just how horrific the damage was to so many homes. I had no idea how lives were totally reduced overnight. The floods happened on Tuesday. The damages shown on the news were shocking, to say the least. I could not imagine ever going to sleep and waking up the next morning totally stripped of everything that I own. I heard some accounts stating that some people were only left with the clothes on their back. One family had moved into their home, with new baby, the night before being flooded out. I pray and wish the best for all those affected by this tragedy. This scenario was so unexpected in a place like Atlanta. Other cities have a history of flood issues, so those places come to expect some of these problems.

After the news of the flood. I ran to call my insurance company to inquire about my flood coverage- that is IF I had any. I learned that I did not have flood insurance, but it is affordable. My rate would be less than $500 per year. I was very happy to learn this. The cost can be up to $5,000 for some home owners. I will add the flood coverage asap to my home. It would be a cheap price for peace of mind. Some families on the news never thought this tragedy could happen to them and the chances were small. I want to be safe, not sorry. The worst thing than being mentally and emotionally depleted is to have no home, no haven. The home is such a centerpiece of our lives. At the end of a long, hard day we all long to be at home. Home is a comforting place. Losing one's home is like losing a part of yourself.

I plan to donate to the cause.

Blessings to all.
