Floor Tile Designs

Picking out the right tile floor designs turns out do be harder than I thought. I thought that it would be easy to choose the perfect ceramic tile design. After all, I do have a very good eye for home decoration, and I know where to shop for high quality products. I was surprised by how hard it actually was. It took me weeks to make up my mind.

I had never really thought about how many different floor tile designs there were. There are thousands upon thousands of commercially available ceramic tiles, and that does not even take in to account any of the linoleum tiles or other materials out there. This time, I had decided to go without linoleum. I do not have anything against it per se, but our kitchen has had linoleum floor tiles for the last 20 years or so, and I am just starting to get a bit fed up with them. It is as simple as that.

There are a lot of different approaches to floor tile designs. Some people like to keep it really simple and just use square tiles of some neutral color. Other people like to make it a lot more complex and use floor tile mosaics to decorate their homes. I ended up choosing something kind of in the middle. It was a repeating geometric pattern that was pretty simple, but still a bit more decorative than really basic floor tile designs. I talked to a great contractor, and set it up to be installed the very next week.

It really worked out perfectly, except for one thing. We had neglected to think about the wall color, and it ended up clashing just a bit with all of the tiles. It was not a big deal in the end - we had been planning on repainting the walls, so we just moved up the date a little. Nonetheless, it was a good lesson. Careful planning is one of the most important things in picking out a floor tiles design. If we had had expensive paneling or paintings that did not match with the floor tile designs, it would have been a great big problem. I am just glad that the only thing that ended up going wrong was the paint on the walls not quite matching. As frustrating setbacks go in home improvement, it was really no big deal. As a matter of fact, now our house looks better than ever.

White Tiles

You can do a lot of things with your home when you redecorate, but there are some rooms where you have to think about function as much as you think about the style you are going to choose. When you redo a kitchen or a bathroom, you often have to consider what water damage can do to your walls and floors. This is why many bathrooms are done in white tiles, and some of them go up the wall at times for added protection. Tile can be used in many rooms, and these are often a great choice no matter what style you are going for in your home.

When using white tiles, you have a few options for color. Many like white because they look fresh and clean, but too much white can often be a problem and might not be the look someone wants. There are great ways around that though, and one thing you can do when installing your white tiles is to use colored grout to install your tiles. You can usually use any color you want, and it is rather easy to do. When you are done, you will have the white clean look you want, but you will have some color as well.

You can use white tiles in your other rooms if you wish. You might want to find larger tiles to use in your foyer or your entry area. These are easier to clean than smaller ones, and can give anyone coming into your home a nice, bright welcome. You can also use colored grout here as well, but if you have plenty of color elsewhere, you may just want to have grout that matches your white tiles. This is also great for your hallways near kitchens and bathrooms, and also for the laundry rooms in your home.

What you might not know about white tiles is that they can be some of the best bargains out there. Not only are they at a good price when you buy them, they also have a long life span if treated correctly. They should be easy to clean, and many types of white tiles that are made today are stain resistant. That means you don't have to worry about catching everything right away. You may not think there is anything special about tiles in white, but they can look amazing in the right room. They are also practical, and save you money in the long run.
