There are thousands of floor plans available for both residential and business projects. The question then becomes how to choose which one is best for you and your needs. One of the best things to do is obtain several sets of floor plans that you think would meet your needs. Discuss the floor plans with your family or business associates. Are the sizes of the rooms appropriate to your and their needs? If the floor plan involves a home does the size of the home leave enough room for expansion if your family size increases? If a business floor plan is being taken under consideration, is there sufficient room to conduct business as it is now and also does the floor plan allow sufficient space to accommodate future business expansion?

After having travelled three quarters of the world I have seen incredible residential, vacation, and condominium development. Now I am spoiled. I would never settle for living in a typical two or three bedroom stock and bought average North American home. The Laotian-French architecture I have seen in Vientiane in Laos, those I have seen on the islands and mainland of Thailand, and those of beach-side Panama, Hawaii, Tahitti and Costa Rica are enough to make a person cry in comparison. A number of these architectural and functional beauties were built by the owners themselves using home or bungalow cottage kits. There is something that enhances family life when the man of the house has built the home that accomodates his family.

So, consider thinking outside of the box and getting out of the forest so you can see the trees. Consider a floor plan for your new home when looking at the project from an international view or perspective. If I were making a decision about which floor plan to use for a particular purpose, I would probably look at several hundred floor plans which are available free and make notes on the best and worst features of each in an effort to enlarge my body of knowledge about floor plans. This process is probably as exciting as the watching of breaking ground and the laying of foundation on which your new structure will stand.
