Florida Marlins

A professional baseball team based in Florida, the Florida Marlins have played at Dolphin Stadium since 1993. The name "Marlins" originates from the fish. The Marlins suffer from a combination of poor performance, negligent ownership and relatively low attendance. Recently the Miami Hurricanes football team (University of Miami) announced that they intend to relocate their 2008 season to Dolphin Stadium, which is rather ironic given that the Marlins have proposed Orange Bowl site as one of the proposed sites for their new home.

The Florida Marlins were originally an expansion franchise and despite having won two World Series pennants, they have always gone into the playoffs as a Wild Card team and have never taken first place in their division.
