Flower Arrangements

Designing your own flower arrangements from the flowers from your own garden or from wholesale flower vendors, can be a very gratify experience. Creating beautiful flower arrangements can be an inexpensive way to show someone you love them, to decorate your house, or as a creative outlet.

Flower Arrangements with Flowers From Your Garden

If you´re going to use flowers from your own garden, cut them early in the morning, and have a bucket of fresh water to place each stem as soon as you cut it. It´s important for the flowers to continue to "drink" water, and for them to do so they must spend the least amount of time from plant to water. Use lukewarm water in a plastic bucket (cold water for bulbous plants such as tulips) to place your stems in. If you like you can add an aspirin, a teaspoon of bleach, or two tablespoons of white vinegar to the water in the plastic bucket.

Containers for Flower Arrangements

Find a nice vase, pitcher or other container for your flower arrangement. Flowers look good in any containr, just make sure that it´s waterproof. Make sure the container is very clean so taht bacteria or othe microorganisms don´t form in the water. Add clean, fresh water to the container, you can add an aspirin, a teaspoon of bleach or two tablespoons of water to the container.

If you are going to make a flower arrangement with few flowers, use 3, 5, 7, or nine flowers as they look more pleasing to the eye than even numbers.

As you´re placing each stem in the water, just before doing so, cut off the stem at 45° angle before placing them in the container.

Color Combinations in Flower Arrangements

Try to find color or texture combination. Use the color wheel for inspiration. A monochromatic arrangement will have only one color (it can vary and have light and strong), it´s considered a very soothing flower arrangement. An analogous flower arrangement uses colors that are next to each other on the color wheel, and it´s a bit more dramatic. For pictures visit: centro de mesa boda. A complementary flower arrangement will have colors that are opposite from each other on the color wheel, they can be very dramatic!

Great Hub Isela. A friend of mine is into flower arrangements, as a small business entrepreneur and will surely learn a lot from this hub. Sending her here to have a read.

And me, i'll try my hands on arrangements using my own flowers, as per your ideas. I'm sure i'll have great fun trying it out.

Thanks.
