Are you having a hard time deciding which foam pillow is the best for you? Since pillows of today have so many various sizes, shapes, and materials, no wonder choosing the right one can be confusing.

Memory foam, or visco elastic foam, is now the newest kind of foam pillows on the market. For relief from pressure and outstanding support, this pillow is it. Originally, this kind of foam was designed for pressure relief for the space system. But the great benefits of this material have been known to benefit everyone, and nowadays, pillows and mattresses that are designed with memory foam, increase circulation, relive painful pressure points, and also mold to the individual curves of the body and the neck for proper alignment, and support of correct posture. Because of this, we get a better sleep time.

When using a normal feather or urethane foam pillow, they are not able to do this, because the unique material of the memory foam molds to you, due to the heat created from your body, and there is not space between your body and the pillow.

There are various sizes that memory foam comes in, like: small, child's, medium, large, and extra large, and this refers to the height of the pillow curve. For instance, if you are a small, short, or petite person, then your neck will be more shallow, and you will need to use a pillow that is best for you, usually a child's or small pillow.

You will need a much higher pillow if you are a very tall person, and this kind of person would need an extra large or tall size. For the most part, average is the kind of pillow that is needed for most people. Manufacturers will often place size charts on their packaging, but this is mainly to be used as a guide, since it is necessary for you to try the pillow out in the store, so that you know for sure that it will fit your neck curve, since most of the time, this is related to the size of your body. You will know that it fits, when you know that your head is not being pushed too far forward, or that it sinks far back when you lie on the pillow.

Although you cannot return pillows, most of the time, there are sample pillows that you can try out on the store. You need to have someone with you, so that they can tell you if your head is going too far back or forward, as you lie on the pillow. You need to have a great posture that is straight.

Then, you need to know the main way that you sleep at night- side, stomach, or back. Since the curve of your neck is smaller when you sleep on your back, you will need a pillow that is flatter, or one that is made for back sleepers.

A person that sleeps on their side, can use the contour memory foam pillow. The head will rest backwards on the flat part of the pillow, since the curve of the pillow will fit into the neck.

For people who sleep on their stomachs, they can sleep either with a flat memory foam pillow, or no pillow at all.

Some of the other alternative materials that are much like memory foam are: buckwheat hulls, which are natural, or latex, and also air. These are much better choices than poly or feather pillows. Since feather pillows have such low height, a person that is extremely petite, may still be able to utilize a feather pillow.

If you experience neck pain from sleeping, you should talk to your doctor about the pillow that is the right choice for you. Since most of the time, they know all about the kinds that are out there, they can assist you in choosing the best one.

Often, a great nights sleep is simply a new pillow away.
