I can see there are so many questions and so little, time, but the whole point is that making money on hub pages is based on three little things: Keywords, Traffic and fo course hubs and networking. In essence, money and hubs are linked but I think the question people ask is not so much why or what but how.

So, a bit of money making 101:

Google AdSense: You'll notice on hubs that there is boxes in your hubs with advertisements. These are Google AdSense. There is no trick to these advertisements, a person who reads your hubs clicks on them and you get anywhere from 0.01 to some have said, $20.00. So you're probably wondering how I might know this?

In your stats on your hubs there is a little tab at the end of the list, from there you can get a rough outline of how much money you can make. These are the dollar signs, theyrange from one to five, so if you only have one $ then this means your keywords aren't going to generate a lot of money. If you have $$$$$ symbols, then your advertisements, will be worth more, provided the next thing happens.

One big thing that people still say time and again, and i will mention is this: keywords are all important, and so is the title. Try to put a keyword in the title but not in any obvious way. The title of your hub is also important, as people will remember a title, and if it's original and memorable than you're off to good beginning.

Making Money on Hub pages: This one is a bit more complex, I think people will read the FAQs and think they might make decent money, but remember, you need to learn and one or two hubs simply won't do it. For example take me, I have almost 60 hubs at the time of this writing, and I'm still learning, now there is a steady stream of people coming to my hubs, it equals a bit more money. That is a bonus,

Two thing to bear in mind: One I have nearly sixty hubs and Two, I have traffic. With nearly 350 fans, I can get people coming back.

The next steps are a bit trickier, mostly in terms of what to do.

Write A Hub with Good Content: Now this one is only part of it, when you write a hub with good content, work on the title of the hub as well. Something Short and Sweet but also something memorable. You see, If I like a hub I'll go to Stumble Upon and Share it with people, and they will share it with others, and the better the content and title the better chance there is of people finding it.

Content is a must, as people expect things from my writing, and part of that is good content, I can't stress that enough. Most by now know my editing isn't great however, I try. I admit this off the bat, but the point is that the content is there, and people can understand it. It's simple and easy to read.

Increasing Traffic: Well for me, I tend to do three things: comment on other people's hubs, comment on fan mail, and this is the most important, add their hubs to Stumble Upon, If you like the hub share it I always say, and the bonus to Stumble Upon or other Social Sites Like that is that people will look it over, and vote on it.

This will also help you google AdSense, my most favorite book out there on Google AdSense is Google AdSense for Dummies, as it explains the basics and we all need the basics. The next one on my list is The AdSense Code, a good primer, as it suggests ways of increasing traffic to your sites.

Money and Hubs... always go back to the basics:

When I first began this journey on hub pages, I wasn't moving out of my niche of writing, and I did spend a lot of time reading and bookmarking hubs I liked, I still do this, although not as often, in fact I always go back and reread many of my hubs I've bookmarked, and have added them to Stumble Upon.

For me, the writing is the hardest part, and yet, after reading many hubs, and getting my two basic books on Google AdSense, and learning the basics of Affiliate Programs such as Amazon and eBay, I've learned a lot.

Learning About Affiliate Programs: Those of Amazon and eBay, I've found more success with amazon provided that the books I use work for the hubs I write. I tend to suggest books after all I am a writer. I've found that with amazon, when people do go for a book, this works much better than the AdSense, so combined it works.

The Affiliate programs is one I'm dipping my toe into right now, but I'm happy with it. Someday there will be a hub about it... just not right now.

Still, The big thing is, write hubs people need to bookmark and send to other sites such as Stumble Upon or Digg, or Facebook, and also work on them, it does take time, and while you might not get a lot a month to begin with, you should ask yourself, why isn't this getting the traffic it needs or the money I want?

What's The Hardest Thing For You?

  • Understanding AdSense
  • Writing a Hub
  • Making a Steady Income
  • Getting the Right Keywords
  • Social Bookmarking such as Stumble Upon
  • Getting Traffic
See results without voting

If your answer is money... well learning from others is a good way to start, but also learning the things from your statistics will be a big help.

Asking why, and where, and who and most important how will get you better results.  Still there is the flip side to this thing called hubs.

What are your expectations?  17 hubs and no fans is a sign you need to work on getting the traffic to your hubs on a consistent basis, and that takes time, and effort.  So what are you waiting for?

It's the same as the links, the more of these "*" you have the more it's linked to.

Hi Rebecca. I'm very cross with you! I discovered you recently on hubpages and have spent way too much time reading some of your excellent hubs and your writing blog, instead of getting on with my own writing! Seriously, thanks for all the great writing-related hubs. Love your work.

Good hub with lots of useful information. I did not come to hub pages to make money, I came to write and experiment with various genres and styles of writing. After being here awhile, I decided to try adsense, but couldn't make the connection so gave up trying.
